No. That’s what I bought it for. M & M’s are to big. It does work great for jelly belly’s

They will fit on the bottom hole of the dispenser. It dispense quite a lot of jelly beans, pretty sure the brachs kind can as well.

Can small gumballs go in the machine?

It depends on how small, but these are the size of a dime roughly.
