Sturdy and repeatable
I ordered this for my 12 inch craftsman/atlas lathe. This post will fit if you machine the thteaded mount plate that fits the compound. The axa size would maybe worked better, but BXA does work. The quality and rigidity are excellent the locking action is smooth and positive. The tool holders are nicely ground and they have been heat treated. The knurl holder is nice in it will accept a tool bit on the opposite end. The cutoff tool is wonderful especially when compared to the lantern style post i have that would hardly part off brass or aluminum, this one handles tool steel with no problem and with no chatter. The surface finish is noticeably better boring and turning than with even the solid posts I was using. This post handles up to a 5/8" square tool or boring bar and has enough adjustment to use 1/2" and 3/8" and possibly 1/4" bits. The only tool holder i haven't tried yet is the boring bar holder. It takes up to 1" and has an adapter to 3/4". Overall the quality and finish appear excellent. The post are easy to adjust and repeatability is spot on. The rigidity is again excellent as i think the post weighs almost as much as my compound. If you have a compound that the narrow width of your Tslot in the compound is 5/8" or greater and the swing is 12" or more you can make it work. The threads for the post stud is fine thread inch, 5/8-18. This post works and works very well. The accusize mount is the real deal at a reasonable price

Great for the money
Honestly it's much better quality than I expected for under $250. I haven't noticed any places yet where they cheaped out or cut corners. It's pretty large and heavy -- borderline too large for my 10" lathe -- but I wanted something that would hold larger cutting tools and this will definitely do that. Comes with a neat built-in knurler that I was not expecting but definitely appreciate. It also comes with a large square baseplate that you can modify (with a milling machine and/or drill press obviously) to attach to your particular lathe. This was a fun afternoon project for me. In case the five included toolpost attachments aren't sufficient, it looks like machining additional ones should be pretty easy if you have access to a milling machine and dovetail cutter, which if you're buying this in the first place you very well might.

A very useful, well-made addition to the lathe
The machining on this is very good, as is the finish on the parts, and everything fits together nicely. It seems to more than strong enough for my needs. I used it to replace the original "lantern" style tool holder on my Atlas 6" lathe. I also bought a set of lathe tools with replaceable carbide cutters, which I'm using with this tool holder. I've been turning some steel today, and this has made changing tools almost effortless. You only have to set the center height once for each tool, and never mess with it again unless you remove a tool from the carrier it's in. I only have a couple of minor complaints. First, there was no documentation in the box explaining what the different parts were for, although that was easy enough to work out from the web site. Second, one of the tool carriers has a built-in knurling tool. There's still a slot for a cutter at the other end, but it only accommodates about half the length of a cutting tool as the slot stops halfway through the carrier to leave room for the knurling wheels. I'm not sure how much I'll use the knurling tool; I think I would rather have had another normal carrier and been able to mount a knurler in it if I wanted to. Also, as some others have pointed out, the set screws that hold the tools in the carriers are not very well made. It comes with a little TORX driver tool to loosen and tighten them, but some of them don't seem to have the TORX socket machined correctly, so you either can't get the tool into them, or you can, but then it just spins without engaging anything. It seems like an odd thing for a manufacturer to skimp on. Worst case, plan on replacing some of the set screws if you get defective ones. Overall, though, I think this was a worthwhile addition to my lathe setup.

Tool post
I needed to add a longer stud to adapt it to my lathe, but after that it works great. I can now use my parting tool and actually works. As for the facing bits no more need to shim them up, you can set the height and lock it in.

Purchased to use on a Smithy Granite 1324 machine and ...
Purchased to use on a Smithy Granite 1324 machine and required some fabrication to make it work:1. I purchased a 3/4” x 6” medium tool steel hex bolt from Home Depot (see 01-Standard Unmodified Bolt v Accusize Bolt.jpg)2. The bolt was faced and turned-down to fit the Smithy and main Accusize assembly (see 02A-02C Modified Bolt pictures)3. The bolt was heat treated to increase hardness (see 03-Heat Treated Modified Bolt (w Accusize Nut).jpg)4. A mount plate was fabricated to provide standoff and orientation to Smithy and lock rotation-ensuring alignment of Accusize assembly. (see 04-Mount Plate.jpg)5. Fully assembled solution (see 05A-05B Assembly pictures)IMPORTANT TO NOTE: The threads on the bolt are NOT M14 x 1.5, but rather 9/16-18 NF (the same thread type as standard size for lug nuts!)Works amazingly well- instant order of magnitude in rigidity and quality of finish- well worth the investment

Nice quality tool post set.
I have worked as a machinist for over 40 years. I have used aloris and dorian tool post on a number of different lathes. This tool post set is really nice for the money.

Awesome for the Axminster SC2 lathe
Fitted to my Axminster SC2 no major issues and is by far better than the fixed post that came with the lathe. I now have the ability to use 10x10mm hss tool steel and still be on centre. The only small complaint is that the holder for the boring tools is too big for a small lathe and should be reduced to 6 or 8 mm but no bother I made a sleeve and the holder for thin parting hss is also too big for a mini lathe, again no bother just shimmed it. Overall a good investment.

Accusize wedge type tool post and holders
The tool arrive well packaged with no scratches or dings. The finish is quite good and the tool holder fit the post solidly and securely. I dismantled the tool post to examine the hidden workmanship and found it quite good for the price point. I tested it on my cheap Chinese lathe by parting off a piece of 1 1/2 steel. The cut was made without any instability in the tool. I think it is very good for the price.

Nice set but a bit grungy
Have this set on a 14" Lathe, better than other ones I have seen. However the worm screw that lifts the jaws up and down is a but grungy and has a bit of binding, just hoping this would clear after some usage. Not affecting accuracy and repeatability.

Solid, accurate, square and repeatable
This set works great on my 9x20 lathe. I had to modify the stud to fit but everything works great so far!

great product, very solid !
Really happy ! Very solid and well worth every penny ! Much larger than I expected but thats a good thing. Had to custom make the T-nut but they send a nice piece to machine it out of. Could have carefully done it with a saw or grinder but cnc works best obviously.
