Beautiful Romance!
I love a good romance and this book did not disappoint. Both characters were likable and quite adorable. I imagine only a love originating in childhood would be able to endure and overcome the trials and tribulations of that era. I like Benjamin for staying true to Coralee even when it seemed the whole world was against them. Although, it’s a romance, in reality his stance would have been monumental and dangerous. The author did a great job conveying their emotions as the story unfolded. My main issue was the editing or lack thereof. Another issue was the rushed ending and how Nick was portrayed. He was too good of a character to just throw under the bus in what seemed out of character for him. Plus, Randy was more believable as a bad guy anyway. And realistically, I highly doubt the scene would have transpired as it was written. I don’t know if the author was going for the shock factor due to the book ending right after, but it was overkill. There should have been one more chapter at least after the hospital scene. I wanted to know what happen with everybody, including Nick. He deserves his own story.Overall, the story was beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. Also, I would love to read Paul and Patty’s story.

Jewel Of A Story
I can’t believe it has taken me years to find this wonderful work of art! Benny and Ceelee discover love before they truly know what the word means and at a time when crossing the race line for love was frowned upon and forbidden. As I read this book, I pictured myself as Ceelee and thought about past loves and what I would have done had I found love like this in the 60’s. Benny knew what he felt for Ceelee was powerful and beyond words. Benny needed Ceelee like he needs air to breathe but Benny also must come to understand what loving Ceelee will cost him and her. Benny can’t sit by and be nonchalant to the climate of the South. Ceelee is drawn to Benny like metal to a magnet but she struggles with her emotions and what is expected of her as a black woman in the South. I enjoyed this book from the first word. I can tell Savannah put her heart, sole, spirit and time into this book. It feels and more like a passion project versus an ordinary romance novel. One thing is absolute, Hate is taught. We are not born to hate, we are born to love. If you are debating whether to read this book, don’t! Sit down and experience Being Plumville.

Absolutely LOVED this book !!!
Came across this book while reading a review for another book by this author. The reviewer expressed her love for Being Plumville... and that it was her favorite book by the author. I decided to read it. So incredibly glad that I did. Absolutely loved Benny & Coralee’s love story. He was so convicted in his love for her. His strength carried her through their struggles. The author captured the time period perfectly. Black people were free from the legal bonds of slavery but still bound by what society, at that time was willing to allow them to have. Free to love ... free to marry... as long as it’s your own kind. Benny & Coralee lived through that time. Their love story was beautifully told. Absolutely LOVED this book.

READ THIS BOOK!!!
If I could've given it 10 stars, I would have done it in a heartbeat. I did not want this book to end. Excellent character development, great dialogue and a super story. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to all who want to understand how difficult it was to be in an IR back in the 60's even though the Loving case had already been adjudicated. Bigotry, segregation and racism were still very much the law of the land in the US, especially in the South. It was very telling that the author also discusses how this same hatred was evident toward whites (and toward blacks who dared to venture outside the black community) by the black community. Those who loved across color lines had to be completely committed to the cause and to each other in order to survive. It may be easier now but it behooves us to remember those who came and suffered before us so that we are able to love freely whom we choose.

Beautiful Love Story
This was the most beautiful love story I've read to date. It was so innocent and sweet. The love scenes were pure and at times so cute. I fell in love with Benny and Ceelee. The symbolism of her attack by one white and one black guy shows how no one race is without fault. I swooned for them and my heart broke for them. I was ok with the ending and thought it was fitting. Thank you Savannah. This won't be my last reading of your work.

Blown away
Wow, this lady right here is clearly gifted in the art of story telling! This book is quite simply one of my favourite reads of 2017. I'd been hearing rave reviews about Being Plumville, but just never being enticed to buy the book because I'm not huge on historical romance.Ben and Ceelee's love story is one that you could say was written in the stars, right from the time they were born. I read this book with my heart in my throat the whole time. I loved Ben's resolve and tenacity where his love for Ceelee was concerned. While I did find Ceelee's reluctance a little annoying, I totally understood why she was the way she was with the whole thing. My heart shattered to pieces when Ben and Ceelee's secret finally came out, and the abuse Ceelee went through on the back of it. I admired the fact that instead of breaking her spirit, that experience opened her eyes to just how big this thing between them was and resolved to fight for their love.My only complaint is that I would have LOVED to experience Ben and Ceelee's love post the uproar, once they'd gone public with their love, before they got married and started making babies. It felt just a tad bit like from the point where they went public, there was a mad rush to conclude the book, so I felt slightly cheated. However, that didn't take away from the beauty of this love story.Ms Frierson ALWAYS blows me away with every single one of her books I've read. I can't wait to see what she brings out next. A Fantastic read, over the moon ecstatic I finally caved in and bought it :)

Brilliant Read
Wow....this is the first book I have read by this author and I am really glad I did, I absolutely loved it.An intense read with heavy subject matter that makes you stop reading from time to time, to ponder each moment. Realistically written with memorable characters and family unit that I think about even though I've finished reading it.Amazingly detailed, interwoven and a well developed story that unfolds slowly and take the reader on such an emotional journey. The dialogue is concise, honest and to the point. Well written and edited. Beautifully told.....wonderfully heartfelt. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this book. Thank you SJF😀

Absolutely Great Read - I Loved It
I have never been one to read a book at home as I never find the time, so I always read whilst traveling but I read this book every time I had a minute to myself in and out doors. It is an absolutely fantastic read. I got in to the characters and was fighting for their relationship all the way. This is my first Savannah J Frierson, and with this introduction it will not be my last. Very well written and worth every penny, she was able to pull me right into the story. The story was kept alive all through to the end. Loved it, loved it, loved it! If you enjoy the sample, then do not hesitate buy the whole book you will not be disappointed.

Being Plumville - what a delicious delight... wow
Well I just finished, "Being Plumville" and as a writer, I don't really have much time to read. In fact, over the last three years, I've bought perhaps 10 books, and only finished two of them. One of them, by Savannah J. Frierson. I've read hundreds of books, before I started writing that is, and of the hundreds, I have only eight that are my absolute favorites, this book, has now extended that list to nine!I'm not easy to please in my reading, but this book gave me that something I wanted to read when it comes to interracial novels, stories, romances, however they should be labeled. This novel, is actually above calling it a romance, while yes, that's certainly what it is - in saying that, it's one of the best kinds of romances. Because of my own writing schedule and obligations, I had to put it down, but not because I wanted to. I simply loved this story of Benny and Ceelee! What a treasure, and what a talent this writer! It's a slow savory, wonderful read about the truth of how it was for so many who dared to try and love with their hearts back in a day where you had better not! I smiled, sighed, felt bad, laughed a bit here and there, but mostly, I really and truly enjoyed every moment I spent reading this book. There is nothing, but good to say about "Being Plumville" I pride myself on being a writer of "Quality" interracial literature - and boy is it nice to know, I'm not alone in taking pride in how I represent this special kind of love in a world that is still learning about it. Thumbs up, all the way up and let it hang there a while - I HIGHLY recommend this one - I can see now, she and I will be in the running for - Best Sellers, LOL - one can only hope - and yes, I pray that other IR writers shot for that spot as well, in writing the good stuff - the wonderful stuff - the thoughtful, clean and rich stories that could be, we need more - but I'm now confident, I'm not alone in that feeling.*Good Stuff* Back to work now...

An absolute amazing must read.
I ususally can't be bothered to write reviews however this time I felt that I had to pay homage to this enlightening, enthralling book. The characters were real and, shockingly, I liked all of them, apart from the one's of course I wasn't supposed to. Though the romance was beautifully intense it blended seamlessly with the more serious race relation topics. The story of Benny and Cecellee beginning when they were just childhood friends will stay close to my heart for quite a while.
