Braeburn5310 Thermostat, Touchscreen Hybrid 7, 5-2 Day or Non-Programmable, 1H/1C

What I liked was the touch screen and that I can program the fan to cycle on and off independently to keep the air moving.It was easy to install and program. The installer options are easy to get to once you've looked at the manual - you have to press "system" and "config" simultaneously and then release (and the only option I changed was to change it to 5-2 day settings rather than 7 day).After working with several thermostats I love the options on this one, including have the fan cycle on and off ("circulate"), how long "Hold" applies, the ability to choose 7 day vs 5-2 day, the auto change over temperature differential, filter reminder period, (and options for UV and humidifier service intervals) and I suppose the "lock" and "Max/min temp settings" features could be useful to some people.My complaint is that the background colour is a nice blue, which makes the black text a little hard to read if the area you mount it is not well lit. I feel that the rest of the options make up for this deficiency so I'm still giving it 5 stars.The backlight goes off shortly after using the thermostat, and it lights up if you touch any area on the screen (including the "blank" areas, such as the bottom right of the screen).I choose to use a 5 wire option when wiring it up but it does not need 5 wires if you are happy to let the batteries provide all the power (i.e. without the "C" wire connected) - I did have to connect the "C" wire at the furnace first though as it was not originally connected.It has a back plate that takes the connections and then the front panel snaps onto the back plate. This makes it easy to wire up (and also easy to pull off the wall to paint behind when redecorating).May 29, 2013 Update.I bought two of these and one has failed. It shows as calling for "cool" but not sending a signal to the equipment. Had to change it out for a spare. Reducing original 5 star rating to 3 (maybe it should be lower but maybe this failure was unusual). I want to like these more but they have to be reliable.
