Animals

This album was my first entrance into this band's work, and lemme tell ya, I look forward to experiencing more of their music. Each song is instrumentally, rhythmically, and lyrically unpredictable (in a good way) and has this... deep and unique feel to it; I can't quite explain it, but it's awesome. Very happy that I gave this a shot.

This album is excellent. I recommend it for fans of American Football, or mid to late 90's indie rock in general. These guys are perhaps more musically proficient. The guitar noodling in particular is very intriguing, and it's what you'll notice first. The lyrics are all sensitive guy relationship stuff."I've been watching youand memorisedevery last line of your profile.Every shade of your complexion,every tone of your skin."I would hope the next thing they put out won't have so much obsessive teenage type material, and offer more adult, difficult subject matter to adequately match their complex playing skills. The only other downside is that possibly it runs a little long. I think the last two "bonus" tracks are essential, but maybe two of the other songs should have been cut - to leave you wanting more. I'm definitely looking forward to more from this band in the near future.

To be clear, the music is great as is the audio quality of the recording. Everything sounds crisp, and the music sounds better on vinyl than it does in digital formats.My one star rating is only because I now own two copies of this album on vinyl because of defects that can only be from the manufacturer. The first one had a sizable scuff that made a noise whenever the needle would run over it, so I called Amazon and they replaced it for me. I got my second copy yesterday and the same kind of scuff was on it and made the same sound. I don't understand why this kind of issue is passing right under the nose of the manufacturer before being shipped, but it is happening and is especially disheartening to someone who so enjoys the music.Here's hoping someone in charge sees this review and can make it right for anyone else who shares my experience.
