Review: Great little camera for the price - Written by a Survey Engineer (Network, camera, communications and environmental instrument technician). Bought this camera with a view to building a bird-box camera system for my parents. Connected it via USB to a cheap 2nd hand mini PC bought on eBay and broadcasted/streamed the image wirelessly over our LAN, using free Yawcam software, to other PCs, laptops and mobile phones around the house. It worked perfectly with a great sharp image and excellent build quality for the price. Its very sturdy and robust. Small too!!! The camera housing is a good quality coated metal encasing with screws to open it up to access the internals. It also comes with the correct size thread to mount it to a tripod head. The C/CS Mount lens is robust, smooth and easy to operate/focus and provides the Sony image sensor with a sharp image. Adjustable zoom, focus and aperture. There is no software with this camera, but it will open easily with Microsoft's own free camera software or whatever software you wish to use. USB plug and play. This camera will make a much cheaper alternative to the more expensive cameras using the same Sony sensor such as webcams, dash cams etc. It's an excellent choice for hobbyists and enthusiasts, but is also novice friendly. Great, well made, basic, little camera for the price.
Review: Great camera for Mac, especially viewing something from a fixed distance over time - This is not for you if you want to move around and rely on autofocus. It also has to be the right way up (label on top). It is easy to make a mistake with that because it is a cube shape; but it can be an advantage if you want to film sideways or upside down. You need to set the camera position up to observe an object at a fixed distance and leave it there. I dropped a star because the USB cable is built in and rather stiff so that you can position it just right on a flat surface and as soon as you let go, the lead moves the camera position. It really needs to be attached to a tripod or other device that will hold it still and resist the lead. I was delighted to find that it really does well with macro views - I scared myself with very close up views of my eyes!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: would this work as a star guiding cam for a telescope ?**
A: if you get the right lens onto it it can be fairly useful for most applications. there are adaptor plates and guides on various websites.

**Q: Anyone tried using this as a second camera with Zoom software on a Mac?**
A: I plugged it in as my only camera and it worked without any set up other than Apple security permissions as usual. Btw it has microphone too. Mac mini 2018

**Q: Please can anyone confirm that this camera will function when plugged into a Mac OS computer?**
A: It does but I found only when used with third party software. I used this camera with software called QLab running on a mac with High Sierra and works a treat for productions. The fixed zoom/focus is useful if you need to focus on one thing specifically every time.
