Have not fully tested it yet
The product seems to work as advertised, by delivery person seems to have thrown it over the fence into my concrete driveway and the product did not come packed in a box so the impact was hard enough to damage the batteries that were included to the point that one was too damaged to use. The item was shipped in an envelope. The envelope was marked "this packaging is lighter than our smallest box", but when you are shipping something as sensitive and fragile as electronic instruments, it should really come in a box. So far the device appears to work with batteries that I provided, and there is no rattling sound or visibly cracked areas, but gonna check operation for a few days and if anything is amiss, I would expect an exchange for a new unit. Preferably one shipped in better packaging.

Good Product, BUT
The product delivered as advertised. I purchased the devise to monitor sound levels at a proposed business next door. The device allowed me to document noise levels that violate the local zoning ordinance and present the information to the planning board. However, the seconds on the display are defective. The numbers do not fully populate. For example an '8' looks like a 'z'.For a novice user, I wish the features were better explained. The documentation provides the purpose of the setting, but not what the purpose actually means. For example, select 'X' to do 'Y', but it doesn't explain why I want to do 'Y'. Thank goodness for Google.

Great tool to help balance your stereo
I have a 11.1 stereo system set up in my fun room. I have been trying to balance the stereo sound field to make the sweet spot even sweeter! If that is even possible? I`ve been adjusting the db levels on each and every speaker. It sounds rather balanced to me until I spoke with a sound engineer. I followed his advise and purchased this db meter. The results are nothing short of amazing. At least to my ears. From every direction with in the room sounds the same! This really worked out just great! The meter numbers ramp up and down the scale rather quickly, so it takes a little getting use to it. In my estimation this meter worked very well for this application. I also like the lighted LCD screen. I had to take a reading at what db level my head was about to explode! At about 122dbs. Ouch!! Then to top it off my stereo was at less than 1/2 volume. Just Right!!

Does the job
Nothing special here, just a very basic C weighted SPL meter. The LCD screen seems to indicate that it is capable of many other functions (dba, dbc, average, etc) but there are only two functions. Min/Max, and current, no average or different weightings. If I had to complain about something, the button to switch to min/max is noisy, and the click is makes when pressing generates at least 50db of noise in to the meter. This is a problem if you need a minimum lower than that level. I imagine most people will be using this for home theater setup, and it does that job just fine. Frequency response seems relatively flat to at least 30hz.

Almost Perfect
This bad boy does a great job. When I need to confront my DJs and tell them they are playing too loud, the screen is big, bold, backlit and easy to read. Keeps them in line! The only reason I dropped a star is because it has an auto shutoff. While great for battery life, it is frustrating to have to keep hitting the power button when trying to mix for a live audience. It is also dark at our desk so I have to fumble around to find it and hit the power button.

Easy to use, works well
OK, now I'm no audio technician so I can't comment on how accurate it is, but it seems to work pretty well to me. I measured several different things in my house. The loudest of which was actually our infant son who can scream a whopping 120 db when he's enraged! Wow, no wonder that hurts my ears!So far as how it works, it has 3 modes... active measurement, and a max sound, and a min sound mode. Pretty easy to click through to find the mode you want. It came with a 9v battery, and it feels solid and well built. It appears exactly as shown in the product image, and it has a back light for the display if you are in dark areas that comes on automatically. I'm pleased with this product!
