Mounts differently than OEM trailer hitch, but uses more bolts. Not bad!
So, there's this guy in Canada that makes fantastic XC70 YouTube videos ("volvosweden") and he has an instructional video on how to install an OEM hitch. I was confused for a while, because the Curt one looks totally different. Turns out that the OEM hitch mounts to the frame longitudinally and this one mounts to the back of the frame, under the bumper basically. Since this is a Class 3 hitch and the OEM one is a Class 2, I think this cannot be a worse option. As others have said, it makes a very sturdy impression and I'm inclined to believe it is going to hold up. The OEM hitch is mounted with two M10 bolts on each side, the Curt hitch uses six total. Installation of the hardware is really easy. If you take your sweet time it'll take an hour. The wiring is a bit more fiddly. And you'll be in for another hour or two. If you get an original Volvo controller, you'll need to get it programmed and be paying the dealer, or do it yourself - D5T5.com sells DIY programming software if you already have a Dice interface. Curt also sells a wiring kit that steals the signals off the existing wiring, which Volvo purists frown upon, but its like one sixth of the total price.

Fit perfect and relatively easy install.
I ordered this after watching YouTube video on how to install it. With assistance of video, hitch install was not hard. Only modification required is cutting and bending back heat shield around muffler and cutting out a notch on bumper trim piece. Highly recommend this hitch. Use it with e bike rack and works great. And it looks like it came installed from dealer.

My self-installation experiences
Overall very impressed. For installation the 2013 S-60 T6-R was put on a lift and the wheels removed for easier screw access. After removing holding screws bumper still pretty attached. Pretty much had to just pull it off and it seemed to come off without observed damage (only tricky part). Rest of installation a breeze. Remove four bolts and add hitch in middle and reattach with larger bolts (photo shows assembled before bumper cover reinstalled). Bumper plastic went together fairly easy although required minor trimming to fit (trimming to back of bumper we’ll underneath where fitting under the body (doesn’t show really unless under the car). Final fit of the plastic bumper cover panel is a tiny bit off (not factory perfect fit). Probably could have reset it better but I did not notice until later. Recommended DIY if you have good tools and ideally a lift. If slight fit issues when put back together (noticeable only to you mostly) would overstress you then you may want a professional instillation, or check it more carefully before putting wheels back on. The bumper cover is only tricky part, and this was our first attempt with a Volvo.Piece itself is very solid. It was packed well but had broken through solid box with slight ding on one one corner. Overall considered insignificant, and not surprising given weight of the piece. Directions are clear although removal of bumper cover a little vague where semi-attached still. Otherwise simple.Price seemed fair and the piece felt like good quality. Overall I’m very pleased.

2016 Volvo XC70 Classic Install
I installed this on my 2016 XC70 Classic. Disregard Amazons warning, it fits perfectly. I previously installed a Curt receiver on a 2014 XC90 which was a VERY simple install. This install was somewhat more involved requiring removal of the rear fascia, removing the rear impact bar (bumper) and cutting a small slot in the fascia. The fascia, as it turns out is easy to remove and reinstall. The most difficult part is lining up the holes for the supplied bolts which go through the impact bar, the towing eye on the passenger's side and the hitch. I used a floor jack placed under the receiver and just lifted the whole assembly in place to get the bolts started. I also covered the polished exhaust tips with a couple of microfiber cloths so as to protect from scratches during the installation process. The entire process including installing a Curt wiring harness only took a couple of hours and I'm no spring chicken.

Does not fit older Volvo V70's (2007 and earlier)
This will fit later models of Volvo V70's (2008 and later I think, but do your research before you buy!) but not the older ones. This has a vertical attachment surface, but my 2004 V70 has a horizontal location to attach to.I didn't install this but the item is very heavy and appears very sturdy, so I would feel very comfortable installing this on the correct model vehicle.

Perfect fit
Bought this for my 2017 S60 to carry my bike rack. Initially the install seemed difficult because of the bumper cover removal. Turned out the bumper snapped off easily and the rest was a piece of cake

Save loads on a hitch receiver
Installed on my Volvo s60 2012 in a little over an hour. Use with my kuat bike rack; works great. Paint seems robust. Really happy with it!

Install tips for Volvo XC70 2007-2013
Heavy unit, exact fit in 2010 Volvo XC70. Must remove the rear bumper and trim, but it isn't hard to do and online instructions aided the included paper installation sheet. Do not cut a huge piece out of the bumper bottom per the instructions! Test fit the bumper, mark where the hitch is, and cut jut barely wider than the hitch and fold (yes, I folded it after 2 side cuts) the cut piece above the bumper. Looks factory and neat.
