I'm guessing it varies by season and batch, the bag I received was dust free, very soft to the touch, and no bugs so far. Watched my hamster very closely when I switched to this, no sneezes, coughs, or scratching! He's happy to burrow in it and it doesn't stick to his fur or anything at all. Smell is mellow and pleasant, reminds me of pencil shavings. Bag has no smell indoors where we keep it (keeps bugs away hopefully). The $7 bag was larger than I was expecting, meant to use this for a short bit before getting "bulk" but it'll last a decent bit for the money (single dwarf hamster). Experiment with what your hammie likes for depth. Mine doesn't care for a hugely deep burrow (I think he's lazy sometimes) but some like a 6-8". So it could get used up quicker than we use it. No complaints though, its soft enough to handle barehanded, I got no splinters or anything.

The bedding is perfect for my bunny! Small pieces and all packed in was well worth the price.

Bedding is soft and lightweight, fairly easy to clean. Fragrance is light, not too overwhelming. Absorbency is pretty good. My guinea pigs tolerated very well. Poduct came fast and in great shape. Price is very fair and reasonable. Would recommend to any guinea pig owners!

Works well to almost eliminate odor of guinea pigs hutch. No dust, however some pieces were large, like sticks instead of chips.

We use this in our rat cage. I think it is very absorbent and helps keep the smell down and one bag gets us several cage cleanings. We clean his cage twice a week but could probably wait a little longer.

So I bought my 8yr old son a hamster for his birthday.. I figured small, easy clean up...Boy, when I first bought the hamster from the pet store the salesman was just throwing all this hamster stuff at me left and right. Probably bc he knew I was a hamster mom for the first time. I bought all the stuff obviously lol... Fast forward 2 days later my whole bedroom smelled of ammonia AKA "Hamster Urine"...PEW... I couldn't even swallow... I was like what did this guy sell me "Wet napkins" as bedding lol.....I had no idea that bedding definitely makes a difference.. So being the Amazonian Shopper I am for everything else lol, I went a searching for absorbent good quality hamster bedding... And this popped up. Priced well and good reviews..I outway the good to bad if theres more good I give it a shot...I purchased came next day with prime... When I say WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!! GOOGLE says change your hamster bedding once a week, but who wants to sit in their own urine 6 days a week hamster or not. So I change every 2-3 days for her comfort! However, I did an experiment with this new bedding just to truly see how absorbent and odor controlling it was. After 4 days I had to sniff extra hard close up to her cage just to make sure she peed lol... Amazing product as far as absorbency and odor control. However, it is a tad on the not so soft side but it's not hard tho.. So I just mix it with the soft napkin like bedding they also sell and stir it all around so she has both comfort and absorbency. Whenever I change her bedding she's happy and starts running all over the place lol

It's very important to get the right bedding for a hamster. Pine is dangerous. This aspen bedding is great, doesn't cause respiratory problems, and this brand is soft. I have rescue hamsters. I currently have four. This generously sized product lasts for a few months, even with four hamsters -- although I do 50% Kaytee Clean N Cozy also. Also, this is much softer on little feet than other brands.

You will beed to sieve it for hamsters as it is too dusty

Full of little brown mites, and super dusty. Gave my hamster a respiratory infection (clicking noises when he was breathing) and vet confirmed both the mites as well as respiratory infection.

Loved the matetial and my dwarf hamsters did too! The quantity is huge and enough for not less than 3-6 months for a medium size cage. Highly recommended

Brilliant quality but a smaller bag than i hoped for. Saying that its compacted well so there is more inside than you expect. It did take several weeks to arrive.
