Quite enjoyable
This was my first Legend of the Five Rings novel. I never read any of the ones that came out in the old AEG days of the game. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story didn't end up where I expected it'd go. Or rather, it did in a sense, but took an unexpected route getting there. I knocked it a star because the pacing is a bit off at times (some events drag, other important stuff wraps up in a paragraph or two) and because I would've liked to spend more time discovering the lore of the main antagonist and location. But overall, I breezed through it, appreciated the strong Rokugan feel, and really liked the well-developed tone and vibe of the story and prose. It starts with a storm in the mountains, and maintains a cold, quiet feel, even as the action hits. I look forward to more L5R novels.

Well written
Unlike most l5r novels, this one introduces the setting well and does not require any prior knowledge. It reads as a good samurai fantasy novel, which is a pretty small sub-genre.

A brilliant mix of horror and dark fantasy that kept me hooked. It's a fascinating story, great storytelling and character development.I never played the Legend of the Five Ring nor read any books set in this universe that I found well developed and rich of details.I want to read other books set in this world, highly recommended. Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Conflicts between duty and desire done well
Really enjoyed the first published Legend of the Five Rings (L5R) novel from Aconyte Books. Having read the previously published L5R books published many years ago and other books by the author, I can say this is some of the best L5R fiction so far. The main "villain" was a little annoying at first but came into his own. The two samurai-ko main characters were the best part of the book. They portrayed the very L5R theme of the conflict between duty and desire excellently. This is a book that will appeal greatly to L5R fans and really anyone wanting a samurai-fantasy book. I took away one star only because I felt the beginning dragged some what getting to the meat of the story. I can't wait for the next in the series. Based on NetGalley copy provided by publisher.

If you like the 6th Legion then this book is for you
If you like the 6th Legion then this book is for you. It features all of the 40k heroes for the space wolves, some who have been lost for a very long time and even the Blackmane!Things are not good in the Fenris system and the wolves have to spread themselves pretty thin to push back the darkness. Not knowing how or why the incursion started they do what they do best- fight everything - though they are not just against the denizens of the warp, they have to face their own darkness in the shape of the Wulfen who's secret is finally out and the Imperium wants answers.Great book for 40k fans. Brilliant for Space Wolf fans.

A good enough read for space wolf fans
But I am left confused as to the whereabouts of the 13th company members that Ragnar blackmain meet on the chaos world ,are they just written out of history?. I hope not as a whole company of mad mindless wulfen is a bit cheesy and cheep so I hope to see Bolvi and the other ancients back in there mixed plate and marshal majesty

Not a bad read
The novel is a small part of the larger world of L5R. It really only focus' on the one Clan (The Crab Clan). And only two of the families in that clan.
