Not watermelon safe
Thought I had a winner the 1st camping trip - worked on bacon eggs and pancakes. However, the next trip we brought along watermelon - how tough can the inside of a watermelon be - enough to break this spork! Back to the old standby - the backpacker's nesting 3. I've never broke stainless steel.

A Utensil Too Far
Light My Fire has produced arguably the best spork, fork-spoon combination, ever made; unfortunately, they were not satisfied with this and insisted on trying to make it a knife as well. This was a bad idea for three reasons. First, the smooth side of a fork is good enough for "soft" cutting. Second, the serrations are neither long enough nor sharp enough to be much good as a knife, but they are sharp enough to damage the mouth if the wielder is careless. Third, for any serious cutting you'd need a separate knife and fork anyway. All in all it would be a much better product without the poor attempt at a knife. However, other than this minor design flaw, it is a wonder: a genuinely useful spoon paired with a more than adequate fork in an ergonomic design, made of Teflon-friendly, heat resistant polycarbonate. Of course making the other utensil the handle of the one you are using will present difficulties if you need to switch back and forth without being able to clean it first. The only other nit worth picking is that the sunken lettering of the logo on top the handle is an annoying dirt catcher, a defining case of "too much information".Still, for the purpose of substituting a single utensil for two, either in the great outdoors or the cubicle jungle, it cannot be beat!Note: These items are also available with a tiny carrying case to keep it clean: Light My Fire SporkCase with 1 Spork , and in 4-packs: Light My Fire Spork 4-Pack , and there is a slightly larger model for the "large handed" (or the "large stomached"): Light My Fire Spork XM and an even larger Serving Spork: Light My Fire Serving Spork for the main dish (or for real NFL players sporking Campbell's Chunky Fully Loaded out of the Black Cans). There is now even an infant and toddler version that is thicker, rounder, with the serrations removed for safety: Light My Fire 3-Pack Spork Little and a Light My Fire Spork Lefty (Pack of 2) for southpaws.Note: As other reviewers have noted, not even polycarbonate lasts forever; mine broke in half after about a year of daily use. Those willing to pay a little extra for an indestructible spork can choose a Light My Fire Titanium Spork .Note: When Sea To Summit designed their own spork: Sea To Summit Delta Spork With Knife , they went the opposite way, putting a MUCH better knife on one end and a combined spoon and fork on the other end, which has the major disadvantage IMHO of rendering the spoon fairly useless for soup. However, unlike Light My Fire, which has refused to back off a bad design feature except in their infant and toddler spork, Sea To Summit also offers a Sea To Summit Delta Spoon With Knife , which preserves the excellent knife and gives you a large and complete spoon on the other end.A Light My Fire Spork and a Sea To Summit Spife makes the perfect pair of utensils; either in the great outdoors or the cubicle jungle, they cannot be beat,...at least until we talk Light My Fire into offering serrations free versions of their larger models.

Perfect design but inferior plastic
I was excited to get a pair of these to replace complete silverware for two people. They work really well and I have used all three functions with success. The plastic though is surprising brittle. A disposable spoon is more flexible. Just using it, it snapped in half and even when I tried to use the spoon half as just a spoon it shockingly broke again!I've ordered the titanium version and figure I should be all good but they really should rethink the choice of plastic in these ones.

Alert: They break right away!
Love the design & colors, but I give this product only 1 star b/c it breaks SO easily. We've now gone through 3 in the last few months. I thought maybe the 1st one was defective, but no. My kids have been using them in their lunch box to eat soft food - not trying to pry open a window or something. Today was the 1st day of school and the new Spork we just got is already broken! And this time, it was just broken in lunch box on arrival at school! They seem to be very brittle. This is a real design flaw in an otherwise great item. Such a shame. Kids love to choose the color. FYI, these are available @ REI and Sports Basement for $2.99, so this Amazon price way too high.

17cm spork
Just got 4 of these. I leave them in the car. nice colors. everyone has their own color. Made in Sweden. light weight but seems strong but has some flex to it. spoon is full size. tiny serrated section on fork end. some people have complained of breaking? haven't encountered that yet. everyone is selling them locally for 2.99, amazon's price on some colors is more than double that. I understand packing and shipping costs but it still seams high. oh more thing package says BPA free. Thank you.

broke on my first outing
The spork worked well but only lasted one day. It has to be protected in your backpack. I originally had it inside my cookset and decided to put it in the lid of my pack along with a small cup of peanut butter. It broke while I was sliding it in. It didn't seem like very much force for something designed for backpacking. I've had everyday plastic utensils stand up to much more. It wasn't worth the $2 I spent on it. I'm replacing it with the Sea to Summit hard anodized utensils. They appear to be much more durable.

Terrible! Broke before I got a chance to use it.
I was packing this spork with my camping gear and bumped it on the edge of a plastic bin. It cracked right in half. I can't imagine it would last while cutting or serving foods. Would not rely on it for any type of use.

SNAPPED IN HALF ON 3 DAY HIKE D:
These seemed great, until they snapped in half (actually thirds) and left me with a two inch spoon for three days. That really sucked. Get the titanium spork, You'll have to anyway.
