This is really good!
I was pleasantly surprised. Iโve been jonesing for fruit cake like my mom made decades ago. I have her recipe but Iโm no baker. This fruit cake is moist, loaded with good stuff and itโs just sweet enough. Reminds me of my momโs. Very good!

Delicious and enjoyable, even if you're not "into" fruitcakes
I gave this a try because I wanted to see if there was such a thing as a good fruitcake. I'm neither a fruitcake fan nor a fruitcake hater, but the few fruitcakes I've sampled over the years kind of made me get why they're the butt of so many jokes. This cake, I'm happy to say, changed my outlook. It was quite tasty, and my wife and I both enjoyed it. It wasn't overly dense and the flavor was good. Since we bought it for ourselves, we weren't too concerned with presentation, but it looked fine in that department as well. My only recommendation would be that if it's planned for a large gathering, you may want to have several, as they're a little on the small side for a party.

Best fruitcake on the planet, IMO
This is the best tasting nut fruitcake on the planet! Somewhat expensive but well worth it. A beautiful cake, presentation is so nice. Packaged in a reusable container making it easy to store any leftovers in the refrigerator. I will be a repeat customer!

The perfect fruit cake ...
My last review was not a good one because somehow it arrived dried out, actually cracking from dryness and nothing like the many Assumption fruitcakes I had purchased over many years. This fruit cake was superb ... as good, if not better than the many Abbey fruitcakes I have been ordering for many years. You have restored my faith in this product completely and I will be ordering my usual 10 fruitcakes over the holidays. Fruitcakes as you know get a lot of "bad press" as gifts. I have made it a sort of mission of mine to change that and send them to friends who have never tried them but had sort of "bought into" the bad press. They all have converted ... BUT ... only to the really good ones, Assumption Abbey being the best in my opinion ... although some of the other religious house versions are also quite good. It is the mass produced "name brand" fruitcakes that ruin the fruit cake name and are unfortunately all over the place during the holidays. My family (I am 70 so this goes back over 60 years) use to make fruit cakes as Thanksgiving and Christmas gifts. We made them in late summer, dosed them gently with brandy, rum, or just plain depending on the taste (and temperance?)of the receipient, wrapped them in cheesecloth and put them away till time to wrapped them as gifts. We took a whole day and all members of the family had a part to play ... some cracked and cleaned the nuts, others worked on the candied citrus (which we also made a month or so earlier), and so on. We had a large pot that had come from a closed bakery that held all the ingredients and we then hand paddled them ... no small task until Mom said OK. People actually asked for them each years, we made 18 or more each year. The receipe has long since been lost and I fell prey to the commercial fruitcakes that never passed muster and stopped eating them. I am a retired Episcopal priest who many years ago made a life long friendship with a Jesuit priest ... who introduced me to the Abbey fruit cake. I have purchased them ever since. I truly appreciate your gift of a fruitcake to replace the abberation I received the first time. Thanks again, Fr. Jim Heron+

Great cake but iffy on the ingredients.
Cake was perfectly spice, moist and had a nice balance of fruit and nuts. My only issue is the artificial dyes, otherwise it would've been 5 stars.

Would've taken a pic, but it was eaten to fast ;>)
Delicious! I would absolutely recommend this authentic fruit cake; it is moist, flavorful, and chockful of wonderful tender fruits and nuts. Will definitely buy again next Holiday season and perhaps as a nice treat throughout the year.

Even after a year and a half this fruitcake is soft and delicious. Next time Iโll eat it sooner!
