SAMS Creek Westminster 6' Unfinished Poplar Mantel Shelf

I have wanted a different mantle for years! I decided to check Amazon and found this one. I thought it would work, so I took a chance and ordered. It came on time and in pretty good condition. It had one small dent, that I’m assuming happened in shipping. Not to worry, my husband sanded it and you can’t tell it was ever there. I wish I’d taken a before and after. Anyway, they might want to include thicker bubble wrap. Regardless, I primed and painted this mantle and I think it looks great! I’m so happy with the final result.

Mantel arrived on time, is a beautiful product, well made, and definitely worth the price paid, but was damaged in shipping. We were able to repair it with wood glue and clamps and it is installed and GORGEOUS! Due to time constraints we preferred to do the repairs rather than wait for another to be shipped, although seller did offer to do so. We had looked at several in the big box stores but they were not substantial looking, prices were much higher, and the finish was not nearly as well sanded and smooth. This is a paint grade product, and would not stain well, but they do sell oak mantels that are stain grade, if that is the look you are going for. We found the seller to be top notch with customer service and will not hesitate to purchase from them in the future.

Remember that this is a "paint grade" product, so lots of finger joints but they covered nicely with a couple primer coats. The final finish came out very nice. There were a few small mill work blemishes but in the end they were fairly insignificant. Mounted a 2"X2"X4' on the wall and hung the mantle on it, pretty simple and satisfactory. Overall I am satisfied with this product and would recommend it.

It such a well made mantel! It arrived safely without any damage. Its a beautiful natural wood color. It's heavy and comes with a mounting board. However the mounting board I received was crack all the way through so I had to purchase another one which was more solid from Home Depot. Overall its a lovely addition to my home.

We did a lot of research and found this one. We are very happy with this mantle. It's well made to the exact spec as described, flushed against wall and we didn't have to make any adjustments. Installation was easy. This product comes with a 2x2 anchor which was install to screw on to the drywall/stud. Instead of using screws, we just use a few 2" finishing nails to nail the mantle to the anchor. Although this product is "paint" grade, we decided to try to stain it anyway. We used wood conditioner before we stained it and it worked out very well. We will probably buy another one for our fireplace in the master bedroom.

The quality of this mantle is great. No problem painting it. My only issue is that it doesn’t come with any mounting hardware. That was a bit of a turn off. Once installed though, it looks awesome.

Wife loved it. Turned out good for my new project.
