Sedona Hiking Guide

Best Sedona Hiking Book EVER
I have been visiting Sedona yearly for over 7 years and I must say this is the best book I have had for hiking the Sedona trails. We just got it and are currently using it in Sedona. What I appreciate is the list of the hikes and their relative difficulty, the directions to the Trailheads, which has sometimes been a problem, the description of the trail, viewpoints and distances and the accuracy of the GPS data and elevations. And, what I have also noticed from his description, is that he updates the book with every hike he takes, thanks to Amazon’s printing on demand, so the information is never out of date. There are many hiking books out there, but this is the one my wife and recommend having. It will be our Sedona hiking bible.

A MUST HAVE FOR YOUR HIKING TRIP!
BEST TRAIL GUIDE WE'VE EVER PURCHASED! The first section of the book is super well organized and will help point you to the right trails. There is an alphabetical list of trails, trail list by difficulty level, trail list by features (vortex, water, ruins, etc.), a list of shaded trails, and finally a list of trails suitable post rain/muddy conditions. We found this section to be so helpful in determining our hikes. There are two pages devoted to each trail. The first page outlines: Summary, Challenge Level, Hiking Distance, Hiking Time, Trail popularity, trailhead directions and an accurate description. The second page is a map of the trail showing the elevation profile and cumulative ascent. We highly recommend this guide!!! It made planning our hikes so much easier and gave us an accurate sense of what to expect on trails!

Great book on Sedona trails.
Book was really helpful on our trip to Sedona. Lots of good info. He did a fairly good job of describing the hikes, unfortunately so many people decide to trail blaze that allot of the trails are difficult to follow with confidence. I took a star off for the quality of the binding. Pages started coming out while we were leafing through it to plan our hikes. If it had a bigger inside margin then we could take it to a local print shop and have it spiral bound.

Great quick reference guide
I like that it is frequently updated so the info is current. And the author is local so he knows if anything changes. Was able to access the book via the kindle app on my iphone so I could easily access it while we were out and about in Sedona or trying to decide where to hike the next morning. The indexes are really useful such as his favorite hikes separated by degree of difficulty, or hikes with shade for a hot day, etc. I feel like the descriptions of each trail was just detailed enough to help us decide where to go, without being too long -- it was quick to read about a few different trails and decide between them. I wouldn't mind a few more photos of each trail to help get a good idea of what type of scenery and trail to expect when deciding between a few trails, but it's also easy to search elsewhere for photos of trails. This guide helped us find hikes that were less crowded during peak spring break season. All in all, super helpful and well worth the price.

Great info to have on-the-go!
I usually prefer hard or paperback hiking guides. Due to literally planning a trip to Sedona overnight, I went with the Kindle version for this book. Now that I'm back from the trip, I might order the paperback to go along with it!This book was beyond helpful in talking about different hikes, accurately describing the terrain/difficulty, and helped us when we went almost 3 miles the wrong way on one trail (our fault for reading the map, then switching the direction due to probable learning disability). It was nice to carry a Kindle instead of a book, saving space and weight in my backpack. With the current COVID situation, it was nice to know the popularity of trails so we could either enjoy less-traveled paths or go at non-peak hiking times.

Amazing
This author has provided one of the most detailed and easy to use hiking books. His directions to the trail heads and scenic spots along the hike are impeccable. You also get a QR code to scan if you want to see some photos of the hike. I can’t imagine anyone could’ve provided something better than this book. Highly recommend it!

Only civers the major trails
It provides good information on the main trails but lacks detailed infornation on off the beaten path places that can be harder to find. If you are looking for a book that covers the main trail set this is it, but if you are looking for something that requires a local that has been there to show you, this book will not help.

Basic book on hikes
Alphabetical list of hikes in Sedona. Can't get any simpler. Easy to follow one page map and trail directions etc. A bit old fashioned but that is why you buy the guide, instead of using your phone to look things up.
