Double Date (Fear Street, No. 23)

This was my favorite Fear Street book as a kid. I was feeling nostalgic and ordered it for the quick read. I was worried by a lot of the reviews that said it was a low-quality reprint. I'm not a collector, so I don't care if it is a reprint. I just want it to be a decent print job. It definitely is thankfully. It honestly can't tell if it is reprint or not.

There have been some pretty bad Fear Street books over the years. This is not one of them. Stine’s plot is fascinating in this book. His bait-and-switch comments and cliffhangers are more intelligent than usual.Bobby the main character is a total jerk but he’s good enough at faking charm that it doesn’t feel unbelievable that he’s able to get away with some of the things he did. There are plenty of great cameos from past Fear Street characters. The descriptions of the various characters (both in terms of physical appearance and clothing) are more brilliantly detailed than lots of other Stine books I’ve read. The suspense is quite twisty and terrifying in places. The ending Is surprisingly (and refreshingly) light though.If there’s ever a movie version of this book then the best advice I’d have for the screenwriter is to not change a single thing.

This book was one of my favorite fear street books and it is not boring but rather entertaining from beginning to end!

I grew up with R. L. Stein, I'm excited to rebuild my collection! Shipped fast in perfect condition. I didn't realize it would not be the same size as the original books. The size is noticeably larger, so I'm bummed it will look a little awkward on my bookshelf. The words are original size, but scanned/copied on the bigger paper leaves a lot of empty space. Just keep that in mind when you purchase as it will not be 100% authentic. 4 stars for everything else except the sizing is great!

I read the reviews but the most recent had a standard copy of the book. This one the book itself is huge not standard fear street (classic) size and the print for the book itself is too tiny to read. Almost like an eye test. Disappointed.

This is NOT an original copy. It is printed when you order it. BUT, that being said, I am NOT mad about it. It's a beautifully printed copy. It is an EXACT copy of the early 2000 printing, complete with "ads" for upcoming books. It's like a beautiful little time capsule. and at $5.99 you really can't beat the price! I think that might be the same price or cheaper than what it was originally offered for back in the late nineties! I hope they start doing this for other books that are currently out of print, becasue it is a great, cheap way to enjoy some of these older titles that maybe aren't avaliable anymore! WHOEVER IS MAKING THESE - KEEP IT UP! :)

I was super excited to start purchasing these. My favorite author back in my middle school days. Definitely not the original paperback. The back of the book also confirmed being unoriginal by telling me it was printed when I ordered it but not bad for $7. Will be purchasing more.

This book arrived on time and in good condition. However, I ordered this to add to my book collection, and I didn't realize it wasn't an original copy. It is much bigger than my other books from this series, and it appears the pages of the actual book were scanned and placed in the book cover. I'm not sure if it's counterfeit, but I'm definitely not happy that it didn't state that it's not an original.

This is not a review of the story as I’m sure it’s great as all the fear street books are, this is a review of this specific copy. The printing is absolutely terrible. The writing is tiny and most of the page space is empty. I know these are not the originals and wasn’t expecting this print to be perfect but this just looks really bad.

I found that this story went on far too long to the point of being tedious. I kept looking forward to the ending when all would be revealed. It wasn't the worst book I'd ever read, but it wasn't great either.

Enjoyable read

Das Buch ist an sich in Ordnung, aber die Druckqualität nicht so sehr.Eine neue Ausgabe die aussieht als hätte man die Hälfte aus einem verschlissenen alten Bibliotheksbuch kopiert, und alle paar Seiten ist außerdem die Schriftdicke anders.

The text in this book is ridiculously small! Not sure if this is a mistake??
