Project cord for exterior use...
I purchased this replacement cord for use in a project where I needed the capability to carry at least 10 amps and also a weather resistant cover. This replacement cord met those requirements and was priced reasonably. This cord is UL listed (as are most cords these days..) and carries the designation of SJTW which indicates a stranded cord rated up to 300 volts with thermoplastic insulaton and weather resistant for outdoor use.The cord uses 14 gauge wire so it is rated for 15 amps which more than met my requirements. Because it is a fairly heavy cord, it is also fairly stiff. This would not be a good cord for use on items where flexibility is a paramount concern. For my use on this project it fits the bill perfectly. The plug on the cord is a molded one like almost all cords these days. It is designed as a "replacement" cord for use on small power tools so I suspect it will survive most common usages. So, four stars for a good utilitarian power cord. Absolutely nothing wrong with it at all. Nothing dramatic about it either...Perfectly satisfactory.

Perfect replacement power cord for ancient bench grinder
I inherited my fathers ancient (by my terms) Sears craftsman 1/2hp bench grinder. I think it was made in the 1950's. the cord was really short and showed abuse over the years, and had cloth covered wires. After some amazon searching and looking at the original manual, this fit the bill. For initial current draw, the 14ga wire was suitable. The added safety of this having a ground, as opposed to the original cord which was 2 prong, was a plus. I added an internal strain relief clamp inside the base of the grinder so the cord will not pull out. Hope this will give me as many years as he had on the original wire!

Coleman Cable 09716 14/3 SJTW... fully adequate cord for stated purpose.
This is SJTW -- SJ = General use, 300V; T = Thermoplastic coating (elastomer rubber and fairly flexible), and W = weather resistant. The other key ingredients are wire size and temperature rating. This product has 14awg internal wires. This should be good for a 13-15A rating, depending on the environment of the wire. It is rated 75C, which is a lower rating. Finally, of course, it is stranded wire. Note, for some appliance wires, the wires are within an insulating sleeve, with paper protection of each individual wire. This cord is molded around the wires, making it somewhat more difficult to strip to a longer length. The standard to which it was tested was CuL, which is a UL standard acceptable in US and Canada. It has a molded NEMA 5-15P, which will fit any "standard" 15A or 20A receptacle (5-15R, 5-20R). The wire itself is good for 120VAC, but NOT 240 or higher.Bottom line is that this is an adequate cord for its stated purpose.

Quality Cord
I used this for a attic vent fan that I converted from hard wired so I turn it off by unplugging it. The cord is solid and well made, has a large temperature range, and is rated indoor or outdoor. Its 14 gage - good for 15 amps. Another reviewer commented on the difficulty of stripping back the outer sheath. i don't know what the problem was, the outer sheath is a rubber/vinyl cover over three color coded wires. It is easy to strip back with a razor knife or wire stripper if you are careful.

Great Inexpensive Choice
Quality cord. Only needed a two wire cord, but for this price it's hard to go wrong, as most two wire cords are more expense or often have smaller gauge wire.
