Great idea; bad execution
This came with my house, and I urge anyone considering one not to purchase it.The idea of having 2 separate drawers was definitely good, esp. for small families that don't have much dishes. However, the execution was flawed. There is one spinning sprayer on the bottom of each drawer, vs. a top and bottom one on regular dish washer. In order for the drawers to be tall enough to accommodate regular size dishes, they have to make holder of the dishes very low, which is too close to the spinning drawer. If something, such as the tip of a spoon or even the corner of the utensil holder, dips a little low, the sprayer would not spin properly and you'd end up with a whole drawer of dirty dishes after an 1:30 hour wash. But you can't always test the spinner, since once the dish drawer is full, there is no room to get your hand through the dishes to test the sprayer. And the spaces in the dish-holder are large, so it is easy for something to dip low and block the sprayer. Sometimes I have a half-washed drawer of dishes, sometimes the whole drawer has to be rewashed. After every wash, I have to inspect the dishes one by one to make sure they are cleaned. Many of the taller dishes will not fit in the drawer. Also, each drawer does not hold that many dishes. If I have a mug on one side, there will not be enough room for a large and small plate to fit side by side. If you are looking for a dishwasher, I recommend the Kitchenaid regular size dishwasher. I had that in 2 previous houses, and they are great with their never failed me.

Expensive and not reliable
We had ours 6 years, the handles are both drawers have broke it is a bad design and the filter that fits on the bottom has stripped and the repair is 750 dollars. This is a nice machine but does not last long. Also parts are really hard to find

looks nice, but that's all....
To be fair, I'm not sure if this is the model of my fisher paykel double dishdrawer. Mine was purchased in 2007. It worked for 6 years, the started giving the F1 error code-flood activation swith lockdown. The tech has been out 5 times in the last year, and still hasen't fixed it. I've paid for replacement of various parts, and the unit will work for 3 months and two weeks, then same problems again. Ironically, the warranty for service is 3 months, and it always manages to go just past that time frame. It's been 7 years now, and it died again this weekend. I am debating calling the repair man again, or just getting something else-I think a Miele. Even when the fisherpaykel was working well, it is akward to load and very noisy. Takes forever (2 hours) to do a load of dishes, then I had to leave the drawer open for an hour before I could put the dishes away just so they would finish drying.I'd definitely stay away from this brand-it's too weird so when something breaks down, nobody knows how to fix it.

Horrible Company - They do not stand behind their products.
Be careful buying a Fisher-Paykel product. They're great when they are working, but you are in for a nightmare if something goes wrong under warranty or need service. They are a horrible company at standing behind their products. I know from personnal experience and will never buy another one.

Not for everyone...but I love it and wouldn't consider anything else.
I LOVE this dishwasher. It replaces one that lived for 9 years without a single issue or service call. The failure was diagnosed over the phone as likely a bad control board. Replacement including service call = $300. Works out to be $35/year for service. Hey, folks! Dishwashers are complicated and few will last 9 years without running into issues. I decided to replace my DD605 (no longer made) with this guy. Love the tall drawer for items that wouldn't fit in older model. It is quiet! 44 db for one drawer operating--slightly more for 2 at once. You can run two different cycles at 2 different (or the same) times. Most people who have given this product bad reviews, in my view, are complaining because of bad installation, or not reading the manual, or doing dumb things with it. I have only called the service number once, and that was for information, not a problem with the product. They are in New Zealand (English is their native language) and they are open 24/7. I found them to be extremely helpful. It is a quality product and commands a higher price than builder models of other makes. If you want a cheap dishwasher, this ain't it. And by all means, have it professionally installed by someone who knows what he/she is doing. IF you load your dishes properly, and use the proper detergent (either powder or tablets) and in the proper amount, you will get the cleanest dishes (pots and pans too) you have ever seen. I don't even use a rinse agent and get no spotting (blessed with 4 grain water softness out of the faucet). If you need a rinse agent, it will automatically dispense it. You can even pre-set the amount of rinse agent so you don't waste it or use too little. It does take a long time on the heavy duty cycle, but only 38 minutes on the lightly soiled setting. But, really---who cares? You can also delay the start of your cycle up to 12 hours with the use of one button. The drawers glide easily, both in and out. And I really like the fact that the top drawer (which I use for most of my dishwashing) doesn't require bending over to load it. I hate having a huge panel jutting out from the bottom of typical home dishwashers and have to work around it to load and unload dishes. One last thing: It is GORGEOUS. If you don't care about such things, then this won't matter, but I do care and I like the uncluttered, ultra clean (and easy to clean) stainless steel exterior. Many of my guests have commented on how attractive it is.When reading reviews, understand that people who don't like a product are far more likely to write reviews than those who do. And consider that people who make negative reviews for things they should have known before plunking down a grand for a dishwasher should be taken with a grain of salt (or maybe dishwasher detergent?).

Waste of money!
Bought this dishwasher and it doesn't hold much. What it does hold it doesn't was well and it's loud! We previously had a 6 year old kitchenaid that washed better, held more and you couldn't hardly hear it.
