A beautifully illustrated graphic novel for all ages
This gorgeous graphic novel has been on my radar for a while now and my urge to click ‘buy now’ took over.Boy, am I glad it did.I have absolutely fallen head over heels in love for Brenna Thummler’s illustrations and captivating characters.Marjorie says so much by saying so little and the nuances of Thummler’s artistry build connections that are going to stay with me for a very long time. But of course, I don’t feel like I could write this review without the mention of Wendell, a little ghost with a big heart who has completely charmed me. Wendell is by far my favourite character, and I Cannot. Get. Enough!Luckily, Delicates, the sequel to Sheets, is being released at the end of March 2021 and I’ve been lucky enough to have access to the ARC through @netgalley to get my fill of Wendell and his adventures with Marjorie.⚠️TRIGGER WARNINGS⚠️Loss, depression, financial struggles, isolation, death (of adults and children)

Such a cute story!
This must be one of the cutest graphic novels I've read. I enjoyed it so much! I loved the illustrations, how realistic the expressions and body language of characters was. I also really enjoyed the storyline!Wendell the ghost was very relatable, and his character development was very endearing to watch. Marjorie, too, was such a great well-rounded character and she tugged on my heartstrings. I loved her budding friendship with Wendell and how it all ended. I was also really happy to know that there will be a part 2, which I'm already looking forward to read!

charming
A sweet story about friendship beautifully illustrated in a subtle pastel palette, Sheets is the story of Marjorie Glatt, a young teenage girl struggling to cope in the aftermath of her mother's death, While her father wallows in his grief she struggles to keep the family business going , despite growing pressure from a local businessman who has his eye on the site for development, She also has the same obstacles to overcome as most teenage girls, struggling to fit in at school etc. When the family laundromat becomes haunted by the ghost of a young boy things go from bad to worse, as his presence creates even more chaos for Marjorie to deal with.Sweetly sad and beautifully illustrated , this moving story of loss and survival is definitely worth checking out.I read and reviewed an ARC courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher, all opinions are my own.

Genuinely moved
I was genuinely moved by this graphic novels. It has a great story line, a twist I did figure out almost immediately (I just always do) and a wonderful set of characters. This was so heartbreaking and fun but also reflective of how grief is. I loved it.The illustrations were honestly beautiful and the use of colour to reflect different places and timelines was excellent.Thank you Netgalley for the ARC.

Not my usual read - but a great recommendation
I've never really been a comic or graphic novel reader - but this book was recommended to me and I'm so glad that I've now read it!This is such a hearatbreaking story of Marjorie and her family who are struggling to cope with the loss of her Mum who drowned. We get a cute view of the ghost world too and meet Wendell who is coming to terms with his new existence as a ghost after drowning when a young boy.The two are brought together in the real world and after a bumpy start, they form a great friendship and help each other out.Such a cute story of acceptance of differences and friendships.I really felt for Marjorie and her family and it was hard to see that the kids at school were not more sympathetic of her situation and that Mr Saubertuck also saw an opporunity to take advantage of their grief. The illustrations were great and the story was easy to follow and this was a lovely quick read and something a little different than I'm used to reading.

Oh the Emotions
The media could not be loaded. Original storyline about a 13y/o that teaches us about perseverance through grief. Love the art that is so detailed as to even show all the different emotions between characters. Will teach!

Cativante
