Tears! Many Tears!
This book just about broke my heart as books like this too. As stated in the blurb, it's based on the true story of Zlatka and Fania, there are other girls in their group. The author got information from family, etc. The paper heart that was given to Fania by Zlatka is in the Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre. I really feel for these girls and all of the people that were stuck in Auschwitz, never knowing if they were going to be alive from minute to minute. I have photo's and links in my full reviews.MY FULL REVIEWS:[...][...]

Loved this book!!!!
This story unsettlingly placed me in the heart of the holocaust. At first the placement of the words on the page left me feeling disjointed and disoriented only to realize that it was all part of allowing me to submerge myself into their world! It made me stumble as they stumbled to share their tale. I believe everyone should read this book, it gave knowledge and personality to these horrific events in history. It is beautifully written, allowing the reader to fill in their own emotion with such simple statements on each page. I could not put this book away. I became six girls, six souls, six broken survivors through their words. It reminded me to cherish humanity, look for it at all times and never forget that if you carry it in your heart, it will always exist!

Paper Hearts by Meg Wiviott
I read Paper Hearts for my young adult literature class last semester. I found the book very well written and enjoyable to read. This was my first experience with what is "termed" a verse novel. I highly recommend that you read this novel if you are interested in World War 2 Holocaust history.

Spare, gorgeous and true!
Wow! Using spare, gorgeous and accessible verse, Meg Wiviott crafts a wonderful and true story about the friendship and survival of two young women held at Auschwitz during WW2. Really, really fine book!
