Review: Keep walking and moving and having fun! - I have been using Jessicaโs YouTube workouts at my second workout of the day. Sure, Iโd get up and work out intensely first thing in the morning, but then Iโd spend my day sitting hunched over a computer. Jessicaโs YouTube workouts were just the thing to get me up and moving in the afternoon. I wanted to support Jessica for providing so many free workouts and so I bought her Walk On 21 Day Set. Well, I loved that series so much; I just had to have the rest of her DVDs. This set does not disappoint. In fact, I love Jessicaโs workouts so much that I have been doing them exclusively for the past month. Why I love this set: * It works! I have lost inches in my legs and waist. What???? That didnโt happen for me when I was working out very intensely with heavy weights and extreme cardio. * Since the exercise isnโt super intense, Iโm not famished and looking to eat everything in sight when Iโm finished the workouts. * I have more energy that carries me through the day. * Itโs a mood enhancer. No matter how tired or how cranky I am, I am smiling and happy after doing a Jessica workout. * Jessica. What can I say? She is just so sweet and real and encouraging. Itโs as though you are just hanging out with her and happen to be working out. * The setting. Jessica, her Mom Debbie, and a third exerciser are working out by the Miami waterside. Itโs so nice to see water, palm trees and boats as a backdrop. Now, here is my take on each DVD in the set. DANCE WALK This DVD has two 30 minute dance walks: Latin Dance and Dance Walk. This was actually my least favorite of the series. It seemed really easy to me. Since I have done this DVD a few times, the workouts have grown on me. I use these workouts on recovery days or on those days when I donโt have a lot of energy. TONE YOUR TROUBLE ZONES This DVD has two 30 minute routines: Buns and Thighs Walk and Flat Abs Walk. I especially like the Flat Abs Walk because I hate working my abs, but I know itโs really good for me. With this routine, you are having so much fun that you donโt even realize you are working your abs. STRENGTH & BALANCE Stride and Strength is the first 30 minute workout of this DVD. I have a new found love of Jessicaโs metabolic training, e.g. doing aerobics with light weights. Unfortunately, this workout had a big annoyance factor. One of the background exercisers, Lisa, was totally off-beat and was always working the opposite side that Jessica and Debbie were working. Jessica stresses that it doesnโt matter what side youโre working or if you are exactly on the beat, but this was very distracting. Fusion Walk. Jessica really shines with this type of walk. You are working out barefoot and doing some lovely, graceful flowing movements. If you love walking, you will love these workouts. Jessica has so many different twists on walking, you wonโt get bored. This set also gives you room to grow. You can start with Debbie, who is doing a less intense version of the move. You can eventually progress to the advanced moves, which may involve a bit more impact and bigger movements. Review: Great Workouts! - Jessica Smith is the best! After walking with Leslie Sansone for a few years and liking her, I grew tired of the large groups she usually has behind her and of her spending so much time talking to them, not to mention the uninspiring music. Luckily, early in my searching of desertcart this year, I found Jessica Smith's workouts and am more than pleased with every DVD of hers that I've tried. Her voice is soothing, her moves are so smooth, her music choices are right down my alley (especially her "jazzy" segments), and she's easy to follow - it's really nice that she has her mother on one side showing easier versions of each exercise and a friend on the other side to show the more advanced versions for those who want to be challenged. I'm 72 and grew up swimming and playing tennis, then doing Jazzercize and jogging in my 30's, so I've been active most of my life, but am to the point that I just want to walk for staying healthy and in shape. Dancing has always been important to me, too, but some of the workout DVD's I've tried that sounded good in the advertisements have been too much of a good thing (like Cheryl from Dancing with the Stars - I was certain that I'd like her workouts BUT they were too fast and she spent no time preparing you for the moves). Jessica's workouts are perfect (for me, anyway) because they incorporate just enough "dance" movements to great music that it makes the time fun and the 30-40 minutes go by before you know it. There are just enough ballroom dance moves thrown in (like the cha-cha - it would be rather embarrassing to do those moves while walking through the neighborhood listening to my music) that it keeps me smiling and having fun while keeping in shape. Another thing I like is that Jessica concentrates on all of the body, with toning exercises for the legs, arms, and other areas you may want to work on. Even though she has some segments for floor exercises (which aren't for me), most of her sessions are standing or sitting in a chair (she incorporates some easy Yoga moves, too). Suffice it to say that I'm totally sold on Jessica Smith's way of walking/exercising, and highly recommend her DVD's.

Donโt be afraid to work out, you can do this one.
This was a very nice work out! I never did Jessica Smith before and I feel like she could be my friend. :-). Very encouraging and motivating. Only does like 8-10 reps of an item before she goes back to walking so just when you think you canโt do it you get a break. Also explains all the moves to make sure you do it correctly. Only complaint was one DVD had a skip in the first 3-4 minutes. Liked so much I even bought the 5 mile 10,000 step DVD. Like this one a lot better because you can customize the work out.

Intermediate fast paced with lots of variety.
Wow. Must be one of best products in walk-on series. Offers 6 workouts with tons of variety. Jessica's warm-ups are really just part of the 30 minute workout. I suggest a 3-5 warmup session of slower paced marches, side steps, heel digs to truly prepare for the intensity of the workouts. Good variety of music and moves. The lowest intensity is offered by Barefoot Fusion and is my favorite of the six. Can wear shoes but wouldn't get full benefit of foot and ankle exercises. Includes some ballet moves, like touch foot to inside opposite leg at knee. Back leg lifts with pointed toe. Hamstring curls keeping knees together, makes seem more like flicking the leg back, similiar to a Latin dance move. Side-to-side steps, but pick up foot, as if "jumping over a puddle". Side to side hip rocks with front punches. Knee strike leaning back. Balance moves near end. Might need a chair or wall nearby. Strength and Stride is an interval workout. Debbie (mom) doesn't use weights. Squats with pulses, push'n'pull arms, cat/cow stretch for warmup. As with all workouts I recommend a separate warm-up. Weights include squats with bicep curls to overhead raises. Deadlift with row. Cardio includes marches or jogs, half Jack's, skater with toe taps behind or hops. Weights: plies with chest scoops (hold weights with palms up and lift arms in front). Squats with triceps extensions, bicep curls with side leg lifts. Squats with heel raises. Ski side-to- side touches behind or hops. Weights: overhead elbow to knee, bow and arrow arms with step back lunges. Cardio: knee raises while pushing arms back to work triceps. Heel digs are supposed to be a cool down but Jessica continues the fast pace. Short stretch. I would suggest a longer stretch as every muscle has been worked out. Jessica is one tough trainer. However, all the variety of moves keeps things interesting. My second favorite is the Latin Dance workout. A lot of hip movements, cha Chas, mamba. Fast pace leaves you breathless but if you like to dance it's fun. Buns'n' thighs includes intensity changes such as tire runs and jogging. Leg front sweeps (not a kick, more of a lift) for inner thighs. Grapevines, skater lunge, scissor crosses (Debbie kept low with cross over touches), pulsing plies. Flat abs was another challenging but good variety workout. Debbie looked spent. As always Jessica is friendly and likeable. But, I am wondering if she was ever in the military as she is a task master. In a good way.

Fun & effective
I'm old fashion and like dvd's more than an app and don't have time for the gym. These are my favorite workout videos by far. There's 3 disc's and each disc has 2 workouts. Each workout is only 30 mins. They are simple but effective. Jessica is great at breaking things down and making sure it works for you. She has her mom on all her videos and a friend on 2 for the disc's. They offer different options if you need lower impact. Nothing is difficult and there's no dance routine to learn. These are fun and the 30 mins goes quick. Makes you feel good and makes you want to turn them on everyday. If you are a cardio junkie like me, These are a great option.

You Sweat!
I was looking for a different kind of workout being 45yrs old I was tired of doing extreme heart pounding workouts that leave you exhausted and fatigue afterwards especially if you haven't worked out in several months. I read the reviews and decided to give this a try. I have to tell you I was very impressed I got an extremely awesome workout. The moves to me were easy because I have done my share of workout dvds I didn't even preview the exercise sessions I just jumped right in and followed along pretty well. Jessica is very sweet just happy you're moving and encouraging you not to stress if you make a mistake. Even though the moves are easy don't think you won't get a thorough workout where you sweat, get your heart rate up but doesn't leave you drained or exhausted. Another thing I like you don't need a lot of space to do the exercises because you're not sprinting around the room. All sessions are 30 minutes, which is more than enough for me and the whole dvd targets every part of the body. I highly recommend this product for the price you can't beat it. I bought this because I needed to get back into a exercise routine that would get my heart rate up, loosen my stiff joints, help with my blood pressure and cholesterol along with a healthy meal plan this was EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED. I will definitely purchase more Walk On dvds.

Good for beginners--but not for anyone else
I love Jessica Smith, but these workouts are a little boring and definitely do not work for all levels. These are really beginner-level workouts or, for more advanced exercisers, for recovery days. The outdoor set is nice; I also like that she works out with her mom, who modifies the moves. But her YouTube walking workouts are more fun and challenging, and, even though I am not a big fan of Leslie Sansone, her workouts are more challenging than these. So if you are looking for a way to ease into a fitness program, these are right for you. I think there are better choices out there for anyone with an intermediate fitness base or above.

Nice Addition!
Have fun with Jessica, her Mom Debbie, and Lisa as they walk their way to fitness and health in an outdoor setting. I was so happy to see this back in stock so that I could add it to my Jessica Smith workout collection. Jessica Smith is my favorite fitness trainer. She helped me to understand that workouts do not have to be (and should not be) punishing. You should feel like you worked hard but feel refreshed afterwards...you should enjoy and look forward to your workouts. In this collection of 6 workouts, each 30 minutes in length, different areas of the body are targeted. Buns and Thighs targets the lower body, while Stride and Stretch combines strength training with higher intensity cardio. There is also a Fusion walk which is done barefoot to stretch out those toes and feet - a very nice and soothing way to end your day. The two Dance Walks combine various dancing moves within a walking based workout so that you'll dance away those calories. The Flat Abs walk helps to sculpt your midsection. My two favorite walks were the Stride and Stretch and Buns and Thighs. The music is really fun and upbeat and really gets you moving and smiling. My least favorite was the Latin Dance Walk: the twisting, turning and jiggling about bothered my knees and the music was really annoying (canned Latin Music!) Sorry! Overall, you can't really go wrong with any of Jessica's workouts. She's a wonderful trainer: she emphasizes having fun, doing what works for you, and she's upbeat and encouraging. Have fun and get fit with this super-fun set!
