Fabulousness I never knew I needed in my life!
I had no idea that I needed these in my life! I love everything artsy-fartsy....in fact it’s my therapy and go-to chill-out activity. Watercolors were never my favorite though.....until I stumbled upon this set! I had no idea brushes like this even existed and now that I know, I will never go back to traditional brushes. When these arrived I was so thrilled to see how high quality all of it is. The paint pallet tin is so sturdy and well thought out. The colors are amazing and vibrant! The watercolor box comes with 36 beautiful colors, an instruction pamphlet, one Super-soft refillable water paint brush, and a handy-dandy card for making your own color swatches. As if this wasn’t enough, the order also comes with a box of 6 water brush pens of varying sizes. These brushes are so cool!! You fill them with water and then squeeze a little bit of water through the brush to wet it. Rub your brushes through the paint and then create! When you want to clean them, just wipe off excess paint onto a napkin and then squeeze water through the bristles til it runs clear. Voila! Clean! Easy-peasy! I was worried at first about letting my kids use my new favorite supplies, but the bristles are not only soft, but sturdy and kid friendly. The brushes each come with caps, so storage is a snap as well. I honestly could not be more pleased with this purchase! It’s worth every penny spent!

Great value
I’m pretty much a beginner in the world of watercolor. This set is very nice for the price. I’ve been able to achieve some nice effects. They are fine for student practice. From all of the tutorials I’ve watched, I know that I will want to go to higher quality paints, but I’m quite happy with this set as I’m learning technique, color mixing, brush strokes etc... The water brushes are a lot better than some of the regular brushes I have, but not as good as the nice brushes I have. I really like the way the paint set is designed. It’s easy to use with several areas to mix and create your pallet colors. Then closes up for neat storage. This set is great for travel. All you need is paper and you’re good to go!

It’s great but a view issues
Some things I don’t like about these water colors is that I think a few times after using them they start to get like loose so if you use them after putting them away then they’ll be Color palettes on a different side or in the middle of the thing and the storage of them is really loose not like the opening of it but just inside of it to keep the colors in the line or a row of the rest of the colors and they’re kind of small like it’s really hard to use them if you were trying to do a bigger brush it’s mostly just for smaller ones but yeah I mean overall has a really good color palette good for like blending and stuff like that

Gorgeous, rich, creamy, easy-to-wet paints
I love these paints. Deep, rich colors, beautiful gradients, easy yo wet and use. Several have beautiful granulations-appear to be created in a lush 'Daniel Smith' style.Just ordered another set. Only complaints are I received 2 Dark Chocolates and no Midnight Navy in the set of 36 and Lavender was dull-chalky appearing. And I would love to know the colorfastness of these colors. But over all, the set is wonderful. Definitely a keeper!

Decent paints with a nice mix of water brushes
If anybody wants to try watercolors or get a set of water brushes, this Doodle Hog set is a great deal for $15.99 ($15.19 Subscribe & Save). It was recommended by the Frugal Crafter and that was before they added the 6-pack of water brushes. The watercolor tin folds outward with two hinged lids to provide two areas to mix paints. It includes a water brush in addition to the pack of six water brushes for a total of seven water brushes. I've only tried the brushes while swatching the paints on the included swatch card that includes squares to paint in with the names printed underneath. They seemed fine and I don't anticipate any issues painting with them. The paints are decently saturated. They come in individual half pans that are about 5/8" x6/8" in size. Each half pan is held in place by adjustable strips of metal. It's possible to buy replacement half pans from art stores and sites with better paints ($2.39 for Sakura Koi; and $5.79 Winsor & Newton professional pans). They can also be filled from watercolor tubes that will dry out. Since the pans are removable, they can be organized to the artist's preference and mixed with pan paints from other sets. The water brushes come in a variety of sizes. The thickest brush is wider than the paint pans by a bit. The advantage of water brushes over standard paint brushes is that, since they are filled with water, a separate water source isn't needed to clean the brushes. Brushes are cleaned by wiping them on a paper towel or rag. That makes them very convenient for traveling or bringing outside for painting. The disadvantage is that water can continue flowing through the brush making it tricky to control how much water is in the brush. For most applications, that flow is so slight that it's not an issue and the brush sometimes has to be squeezed to push more water through when it gets too dry.One of the wide brushes had a few bristles that were outside of the cap and are bent away from the normal direction they should be in. I don't know if they'll eventually resume their normal posture. They sort of did when water was squeezed through the brush. It's not serious enough to return, but worth noting. Putting the cap on wide brushes without bristles sticking out of the cap takes a few tries. Had I paid $15 for just the set of brushes, I'd have docked the rating a star. I couldn't do it considering that I got 36 paints in a nice watercolor tin plus 7 water brushes in total for a price that would typically be paid for just the paints or just the brushes. As a note, the Frugal Crafter was very sure that these were exactly the same paints that are branded differently by other companies. Since most customers will only buy one set of watercolors, that's not something to overly worry about.

Awesome Watercolor Paint Set
This set went above expectations...beautifully packaged none of paints were broken and a whole package of water brush pens with a number of different sizes. Perfect for beginners or advanced. Excellent packaging and a nice gift. Paints are removable, but I would recommend looking at color chart before rearranging. Added bonus! Definitely recommend if starting out or looking for a solid watercolor set.

Pet portraits in one tin
Having never watercolored before, I purchased this set. It has plenty of colors, and seem pretty good. Not as vibrant as maybe a tubed watercolor. With layers you get the desired colors. These are a few Portraits I have painted with this set. Perfect for beginners. Like me. I suggest getting a nice squirrel hair brush, and watercolor paper. In love with my set.

Me gustaron :)
Me gustaron. Las acuarelas pintan bien, se ven bien, llegaron a tiempo y los pinceles también cumplieron mis expectativas. Lo único que no me gustó es que los colores “tangerine” y “tiger orange” se ven casi iguales.
