Review: Solid buy - After 13 years my original ps3 came down with the yellow light of death. This ps3 works as it should, plays games, bluray, and streams. There were still a few user names on there that were easily deleted. There were a couple scratches in the body, but that's to be expected from a used item, nothing major. I thought maybe it was broken when I got it because the disc tray was exposed so I thought it came without a disc cover. Being unfamiliar with the newer slim models that have a slide open disc tray I got a little worried, but quickly figured it out. Controller was in good condition and also came with a long charging cord which was a bonus. My tv didn't seem to like the component cable that came with it, so I just plugged in hdmi anyway and it works great. A+++
Review: Versatile Entertainment System - Of course it can play video games and that should be its primary function. It does this well. The online Playstation store makes it easy to browse titles and even better, download free demos. This model (250 GB Slim - redesign) comes with enough stock memory to last you a good while, whether you're storing games, music, or movies. I personally like the sliding cover over a retractable disc tray. It eases the placement of the discs so I don't feel like I have to be as delicate, not to mention it's easy to see any dust accumulation and/or access the laser for cleaning. And I don't know that there's problems with the disc tray, but the less moving parts the better. You can hear some of the disc reading noises, but it's usually short lived and not really bothersome anyways. I've had it running night after night, sometimes for 6 hours continuous and it's not getting hot at all...just a slight warmth. I also now use it to stream Netflix, through which we watch all kinds of TV shows and movies. I would recommend an HDMI cable though, assuming you have a TV capable of supporting it. It makes a noticeable difference in the resolution. The settings can usually be used on default and are fairly intuitive, but there's a wealth of things you can change or tweak to suit your needs. For example I have my HDMI cable running to my TV, but also have the RG cables running to my PA mixer for even bigger sound. But to allow this you have to allow it to split audio outputs first. There's probably an overabundance of other reviews about its usage, so I'll just close with a glowing recommendation. I played my PS2 for over a decade (still running btw, but obviously no longer in use). This system blows it away. With the PS4 coming out later this year, you might be wary of getting an "outdated" system. If you haven't had this generation system yet, I'd say now is the perfect time to get one. There's literally years worth of games to choose from, many of which are under $20 brand new. And don't expect developers to abandon the PS3 for at least 3-5 more years, and even then, you probably couldn't play everything that's already been released (my desertcart wishlist has over 100 games). So far I've bought one game used and 4 games new, yet the total spent was only about $60...or about as much as a new release game. One other note: I bought mine used. It showed absolutely no signs of wear, but it was missing 2 of the 4 rubber feet on the bottom. I haven't missed them. Provided you have some level of trust with the seller, I'd say go ahead and buy used if you see a good deal that clearly specifies what's included. They're seemingly sturdy systems. Although I wouldn't get one of the older models, especially a "fat", as those ran hot and tended to have YLOD problems. That being said, the brand new systems are hardly a ripoff either, especially if you're getting a bundle.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can you still play the games while it is charging and exactly where and how is it charged using usb cable? Do I need a HDMI cord to play the games?**
A: When you say charging, I'm assuming you mean the dualshock 3, and yes you can definitely play and charge it at the same time. Ps3 wireless controllers, whether 3rd party or not, all have a port for the charger. Essentially that cable goes from the USB port of the PS3, to the controller. And lastly, nope, you don't need an HDMI cord to play, you can play with an AV cord, but you won't get good video quality. If you want to buy an HDMI cord for a super cheap price, check around online. I bought mine for 5 dollars.

**Q: Does this come with the Sony Manufacturer warranty of 1 Year?**
A: I'm not certain. You should call a support line Sony may have or a customer service number they may have.

**Q: Could someone tell me if this system is the original sony ps3 and if it comes with full wifi, and netflix capability**
A: This isn't the original Sony PS3 system that was released in 2006. It is second re-designed PS3 model, but it does come with wifi, Netflix capability, and other functions the first re-designed model have.

**Q: What means redesign**
A: it means that its slimer and with different to better design than the old playstations

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Might struggle with Dual-Layer Blu Ray
*by S***N on January 24, 2019*

I bought my Play Station 3 Super Slim used from a reliable Amazon seller. The console came in secure bubblewrap packaging with all the cables neatly tied, the internet connection worked great making the setup very easy and the games ran perfectly (just some disc-drive noise when starting up). It wasn't until I tried a dual-layered Blu Ray disc that I ran into some problems. The game was the two-disc Metal Gear Solid Legacy collection which runs on dual-layered Blu Ray. The console was able to recognize one of the discs to install updates and that was the first and only time it would play. I tried the game discs that had worked, as well as some new ones, in the system and they played fine but I noticed that they were all single-layer Blu Ray discs (the back of the disc was a bit more transparent than the opaque dual-layer disc). I contacted the seller, who told me that he tested different types of discs before shipping, and did some research online and found other users posting issues with dual-layered Blu Ray discs on Play Station Slim and Super Slim models. These were never formally addressed as issues by Sony however they cropped up quite a bit on the Play Station forums. Since all of the single-layer Blu Ray discs work on Play Station Slim models I think there might be some kind of manufacturing issue but I'm not 100% sure and it could just be a defect in my console.
