BraceAbility Closed Toe Medical Walking Shoe
Like many of the people here, I ended up having to buy a medical boot to allow my foot to heal from an injury. In my case, I broke my pinkie toe. For a month, I thought I could make due on my own without buying any special equipment. I taped it, I babied it, I hobbled around in my winter boots...all was going well until I refractured it. After THAT happened, my husband convinced me to get a proper medical boot. I didn't want one of those big and clunky things that go half way up your calf, so I went searching on Amazon. This bootie was the perfect compromise. This medical bootie is SO easy to put on and wear. It opens completely up, allowing you to put on the bootie without any additional pressure on your injury. The various velcro straps made the bootie very secure on my foot. The size Medium was perfect for my size 7.5 foot. I also tried the small, but my foot was pushing out the front. I did have to borrow one of my husband's thick winter socks to wear inside the boot so my foot didn't twist or slosh in the boot..it kind of helped fill in the space. I could tighten the straps down but my toe was not having the extra pressure, so this was my work around. It is fairly lightweight but protective of the foot. I've accidentally stubbed my foot a few times while wearing this and it definitely protected my foot from any reinjury.I've spent 2 months wearing this bootie.... I went from hobbling around on my heel in it, to finally being able to put some occasionally pressure down, and now I can "walk" while wearing it. This has been a godsend after the refracture, and I wish I had gotten it when I first broke my toe. I've worn it in the rain and in the cold. I've even accidentally fallen asleep while wearing it, and it was still comfortable. It does best on smooth and flat pavement, but I've taken it out for a spin on grassy hills and my backyard. I've been using a cane to help with stability when out in public or getting in/out of my vehicle. I've finally gotten more mobility back and think I'll be out of the bootie fairly soon. I wanted to wait a fair bit before I wrote my review, to make sure it actually helped my injury, but I've been very satisfied with it since I bought it. I've put it through it's paces the past 2 months and it's still holding up fine.Highly HIGHLY recommend to anyone with a toe injury or foot injury. Skip the big bulky boot and get this one instead.

Good shoe for my injured foot
It's just what I needed. Not as clunky (or as expensive) as a boot, but gives me enough stability to walk and yet help my injured foot heal. It's easy to put on and adjust the straps. If I didn't have the extra padding of my foot being wrapped with an Ace bandage, plus a sock that I wear over the wrap, the shoe would be too big, but with the bandage and sock, it's just right. The one unfortunate thing is that the thickness of the sole on the shoe I'm wearing on my other foot is not quite as much. It makes my walk a little uneven, but it's manageable. Be aware that you will need to wear a shoe on your opposite foot that has a thick enough sole to be even with this shoe. That's likely to be true for any shoe or boot like this. (I ordered the medium size. I normally wear a women's size 9.)

Too long ankle strap
I bought this because I have a broken metatarsal. I just received it but couldn't wear it until I fixed the ankle strap, I had to cut 5.5 inches off!!! I could only do this because I sew and have a sewing machine accessible. While in theory you can adapt as is, the reality is that much length was hard to deal with, where to tuck it! I have a very average ankle but considering the amount I had to cut even if my ankle was huge it's too long! Bottom line: once I cut it, I was able to get a secure fit which is the purpose of this shoe. Seems good enough otherwise.

Checks all boxes and fits well (when fastening the ankle strap correctly)
I bought this after breaking both feet. (I was okay with having one foot in a boot, but boots rock too much to be safe wearing two and I needed at least one ankle to be flexible.) I needed something that fit securely with a fairly rigid sole that would rock forward so my foot doesn't have to bend, wouldn't rock backward as easily as a boot, would have some flexibility around the ankle, and be a decent price. This fulfills all those requirements. The velcro strap across the foot can be removed and placed differently to make the shoe looser or tighter. And the ankle strap is snug. In fact, if asked what would make the shoe better, I'd say that I'd like to have a little more padding in the tongue under the ankle strap. Some have commented about the ankle strap being too long, but even with my small ankles, it has been fine. With the shoe on, I pulled the right end of the ankle strap to the right until the hook part of the velcro was the only part remaining left of the left plastic loop. Then, I brought the right end over toward the left and secured it to the strap just to the right of the left plastic hook. (This basically makes the strap half as long.) I pulled the left end to the left, which brought the doubled over part through the left loop until it was snug. Then, I pulled the left end in front of the shoe and secured it on the right.

Provides stability and protection to heal faster
I jammed my 4th toe so bad I think I broke it.. I could wear normal shoes but it still irritated it every time I walked because the shoe was bendable and the toe box wasn't wide enough. This shoe provided the protection and stability I needed to be able to walk with a pretty normal gait, without pain because it doesn't bend and has plenty of room for the toes. I'm in the middle of a move and have to be able to walk around to get stuff done! I feel like I'll heal much faster with the stability this shoe provides.

Safe, secure and breathable
Purchased for a family member who was 1 month post-op after having a big toe removed. The family member's doctor initially want to keep the family out of work a little longer to give the wound time to heal. But the family was adamant that was not an option. Doctor "compromised" and recommended this walking boot. The family member works in a service environment and does a good bit of walking. The boot provides good stability for walking, while offering enough room for the foot -- still a bit swollen -- to have room to breathe.

Careful on selecting size
Size larger than indicated on the web site. Ordered based on shoe size and it was too large.
