Works great (ignore other people’s comments)
I’m using rs422 to connect to a very old legacy system. The other comments where people say this doesn’t work are wrong. It’s their lack of understanding how computers and electronics work.Firstly, the driver is ftdi. By default this should work plug and play with windows 10+ and Linux. If it doesn’t, just download the correct ftdi driver for your operating system.Second, people saying the signal is too weak and such… ugh, it’s because they don’t have the gnd connected. I get it, the schematics don’t display a common gnd, so people don’t bother. But you need a common gnd on all electronics. It’s how each device can reference voltage! The schematics didn’t display it because it’s common sense.

This works very well with RS485
Works very well. The lights are a nice touch. I only used the two data pins. Even with ground not used this works perfectly on my mill. Runs both a VFD and a Pendant using Modbus.

Took a few minutes for all the drivers to settle down and work.
I got this particular maker since it was rated as being very compatible. And after waiting a few minutes for Windows 11 to correctly load up all the drivers for Com3 to appear; it does indeed work without fail. Nice clean signaling and now works without fail. Sure, I may make a mistake; but at least I don't have to worry about the communication.

Good Adapter For The Price
I used this product to interface with a Spectrum (Omneon) video server over VDCP/Louth (RS-422 full duplex) without issue. The unit was easy to setup (install drivers from the included CD, connect the cable), and the pin-out is straightforward. The top 5 pins (left-to-right) are Ground, RX-, RX+, Tx-, TX+. I would definitely buy another.
