Ephemera-safe, acid -free, versatile
This is wonderfully useful, and I am only sorry that I wasn't aware of its existence until recently I have a number of hundred-year-old music magazines that are getting tattered on the edges and need reinforcement to tolerate page turning. The tape has done very well. Other options such as acid-free book tape are sturdy enough but are very thick and don't lend themselves to this kind of use. I bought a big roll and I'm certainly glad that I did.

Easy to use and works well
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I needed a good quality tape to repair a book separation. This tape is very sheer, but still shows if you wonder about it. Has a very good adhesion to the item. Feels very strong when applying it. Used on an old cookbook I've owned for 48 years and love the result.

Lifesaver for Paper repairs
Amazing product!!! Saved the day with an artwork repair. Artwork was a painting on thick paper. I put this on the tear on the back in 3 layers- burnishing the tape between layers. It blended in perfectly and you can barely see it. Amazing will buy again and more Lineco products

Very good product with limitations
This document repair tape consisting of a film and backing paper is very good. The limitations are as follows: 1) It may be challenging to remove the film from its backing, especially if you are a first-time user. Online videos may be helpful. I use a letter opener as shown and gently brush the surface film away from the end of the tape. The film is easily damaged or perforated if too much pressure is applied with the letter opener. 2) The ideal archival film should be easily removed without damaging the underling paper and its repair. The adhesive on the film is quite strong and removing it can damage the paper. 3) The film is semi-opaque and not clear. So a repair on the back of a document or page where the content is not usually seen is fine. But the film and its repair is obvious when applied on the display side.

The best book repair tape I've been able to find for the money
Despite my efforts to instill a reverence for books, my young kids pay absolutely zero regard for maintaining their state of completeness. Luckily, this tape does a great job of hiding their crimes, so to speak. Is it perfect? No. But it does quite a good job and its certainly fine for my purposes. A few notes: Especially with thinner pages, the adhesive is quite potent so take extra care when placing on delicate substrates. It's not perfectly transparent, but by lightly buffing with a bone folder (or any similar tool) I've been able to improve the opacity such that the underlying ink is far more discernible. The box dispenser mechanism (made of paper) is a bit fiddly, so I've improved it by using clear scotch/sello tape to keep it from coming apart. I've also taped some of the backer paper to the box so that it's easier to un-stick when pulling the tape off for another piece. With these improvements, this product is much more pleasant to use.

Works well
Overall I recommend this repair tape. It’s not completely invisible but I had a hard time finding good repair tape that was. I had several books that my toddler tried to make into puzzle pieces. His words not mine. And this tape worked well repairing them on a variety of page finishes. You can see the tape but can clearly see the images through the tape still.

Worth the effort to peel from the backing
Other than being hard to peel off from the backing the tape is excellent

Good product, but inspect tape before use
It was next to impossible to initially get the tape separated from the paper backing. Once separated, I was very worried the tape was not sheer enough. To my surprise, it both stuck to the page with amazing strength, and you can hardly tell the tape is on the page. I am pleased with the outcome. It deserves 5 stars, were it not for the following flaw. I did NOT expect to have stripes of glue on the face of the tape, like railroad tracks, 1/3 of the way into the roll. There was some adhesive towards the beginning of the roll to tack it down; not surprising. I did not expect adhesive further into the roll. I finished taping a large irreplaceable out-of-print children's book on one side of the page. It looked very good. So I taped the other side as well. After the tape was applied, I noticed long strips of glue on the tape (see pic). It looked terrible, and the glue was a little tacky (sticky) -- I was worried that it would stick to the opposing page when the book is closed. So I attempted to remove the tape and try again. When you peal it off of a page, it shreds, and leaves adhesive behind. It took HOURS to remove the tape, and would have been impossible if the page wasn't heavier bond semi-gloss paper, which made it possible to use a dull paring knife. In the end, I couldn't remove all of the adhesive, but got enough off so it still looks descent, and the page is repaired. I'm disappointed that a good product has a flaw like that. Be sure to inspect the tape before you use it.

I did a lot of reading on archival/document repair tape before blindly diving in and buying the first thing that caught my eye, and this appeared to be one of the best products out there for my needs. The tape is very impressive and worth the money. I have read and seen reviews on various websites stating how difficult it is to remove this tape from its backing. To be fair, it can be pretty tricky - but you're also not dealing with Scotch Tape here. This tape is thin like rice paper (maybe thinner) and needs to be more protected. There are several ways to remove this tape, including: bending a small corner to loosen the tape from the backing, using your fingernails or a knife. I discovered my own method of removing it, and I would suggest to anyone purchasing this tape to practice with a small piece of it first to see what method works best for you. Like anything else in life, you need to practice before getting the hang of it. This tape is not completely invisible, but then again no tape is. If you're using the tape to repair dust jackets or one-sided documents, then I would suggest making the repairs on the reverse side of these things so that no tape is visible from the front. I have already tested this on one dust jacket and one document, and repairing from the opposite side only works exceptionally well. This product is definitely worth the money, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a safe way to repair documents and other paper related items.

Ordered Dec 27th, arrived Jan 9th....Hmmm. No harm done, but 15 days from Canada to Canada! I wasn't expecting a quick delivery over the holiday season anyway and didn't need it immediately....not expedited, regular shipping. But, I ordered something from New York on Dec 28th and it was at my door on Dec 30th...also not expedited, and that had to cross a border. Why such a difference? Just curious. Used the product (archival tape) to repair some minor tears and secure the edges of some works-on-paper (drawings, stone lithographs and mixed media work...etc.)
