Works Great, Amazing Value.
I bought this thermostat because I am lazy and don’t want to walk up and down the stairs to turn my heat and AC on and off. The install was straight forward, take a picture of the way your present system is hooked up and put the back plane in for this unit and match colors to letters and you should be in business. This unit does not require a battery, it is powered by the control voltage of the Central Air Unit. The Wi-Fi setup on the other hand was a pain, I had to uninstall the app on my phone and then re-install and then everything went smooth after that. You can also logon from your computer and control the system. The only things that you cannot do is turn just the fan on the unit. Compared to the other Wi-Fi thermostats this will work just fine for my needs at half the cost.

DO NOT WASTE YOUr TIME WITH THIS PRODUCT!
I was looking forward to installing this product in my home as I leave my residence for periods at a time, and want the convenience of turning on the heat to warm it prior to my return. I had a similar product Motison's CyberStat that stopped working after I found you cant reset it once it's programed to the original Wi-Fi network to which you first installed it.Sadly, this PRO1 T701 turned out to be a complete waste of time from the start as, although it arrived promptly within 1 day of ordering, thanks to Prime, neither the thermostat nor the associated phone app ever worked after several wasted hours in trying to get it to link to my Wi-Fi network and then subsequently being unable to make a connection in the process of the device to accept the network. The app would freeze, the login process would not recognize the access code given by the device and then during the final registration sequence would not register the product.I tried customer support which is only available via telephone as the web-site is a "joke" and found they work M-F during central time business hours only (8A-5P). I received it on a Friday night, regardless whether their customer service can resolve the issues. Even the associated app reviews say DO NOT waste your time on this product or the associated app "PRO1 Thermostat".

Works well and easy to set up & use
I bought this to replace an existing Pro1 T701 thermostat in order to have the wifi feature. Because I was replacing an existing Pro1 thermostat, installation was a breeze. I just clicked the old thermostat off its base and clicked the new one on, with no rewiring required. If you are replacing a different brand of thermostat, rewiring will be required and this should be done by someone who knows what they are doing.Initial setup was clearly explained in the instructions and took about one minute. I do recommend reading the instructions as it is important that the settings be adjusted correctly.I downloaded the app from the app store. It took about five minutes to set up and it works great--I can turn the system on & off and adjust the temperature from anywhere using my phone. Initial setup of the app required following the in-app prompts closely, but once it is set up, it is simple and intuitive to use.You have to have home wifi in order to use the phone app.The thermostat itself is basic and easy to use. The display is large and easy to read and you can set the illumination to come on when you push a button or to stay on all the time.Note that this thermostat works for the following: heat only, cool only, and single stage heat-cool systems. It is compatible with gas heat, electric heat or heat pump. However, if you have a heat pump with emergency back-up heat, you will need a different model thermostat that works with 2-stage systems. It does not have battery power so you need to have a common wire (i.e. power supply from your system) for this to operate. It does have built-in memory, so if the power goes out, when the power comes back on the thermostat remembers its settings and comes back on however you had it set before the power went out.

When it works it works great. But....
I have a older heat-only two wire system. After adding a separate 24v transformer and running new wiring, the thermostat was up and running nicely (with Pro1 tech support - had issues establishing new account). With Wi-Fi thermostats, the vendor's internet facing servers act as proxy for your thermostat control. When you seek to make thermostat adjustments, your commands funnel through your smartphone, through Pro1 servers, then to your thermostat. If Pro1's servers are experiencing high volume, or any hiccups, then you might not be able to log on, or your commands might not make it to your thermostat right away.I've experienced this on multiple occasions and it's frustrating. Not sure their online service has proper capacity.Their tech support folks are good, they try to be helpful. The actual unit is great. It looks nice, all local adjustments work fine.It is just when you want to crank up your heat when you are away from your home, it is not always a reliable online service to do so.

Good stat bad android app.
I do Hvac work for a living I have installed many thermostats, but this is my first wifi stat. I installed this in my apt. I had no problems with wiring everything was straight forward,I had to wire up the common wire to terminal at my air handler. Started up fine, but the real problem is the mobile app it is terrible. I have a android phone Nexus 6,everything goes through the app, setting time, scheduling. When I first tried to use the app the server wouldn't work it took a bunch of tires just to set up the stat. It uses this bad slider system to change the temps,it should use up and down arrows. It does work from my phone but its really bad way to control this stat.
