Sooo comfy
I just started playing drums. My first throne was a cheap one, but with my bad back, I decided to spend a little more because I knew being uncomfortable would discourage me from playing. I don’t really need an oversized seat, but I had gotten the one with the backrest first and I didn’t like how it restricted my movement—on drums and guitar. So I decided to get the same sized seat since I’d already tried it and liked it. Highly recommend.

What a difference a proper throne makes!
So.. I'm not a small guy. Not by a long shot. I am 6' tall and around 350 (still struggling to shed my winter coat that is 5 years in the making). The past two years I've gotten back into drums hot and heavy after buying an electronic kit (so I can play and not get shot) and falling in love with drumming all over again. I always figured a throne is a throne.. and paid the price for it. With the basic round ones and even the wider ones with little to no padding I couldn't play for long without having to get up and move around a bit. This Gibraltar is a beast! I am able to sit for as long as I like and able to move freely as needed while playing. This has also made a huge difference in my playing itself as I would subconsciously hold back in order to not hurt from sitting on those old thrones. If you're a bigger fellow or just looking for a comfortable and heavy duty throne.. look no further. I'm really glad I finally went for it.. it's an investment that will more than pay for itself in the amount of time I'll get to have behind the kit as a result of this purchase.

BIG Throne, HEAVY Duty, Worth EVERY Penny! -- It WILL Support You.
I am a HUGE guy. 6'2", 370 pounds and this throne is EXACTLY what I was looking for.The double-braced legs are massive and sturdy. Notice the seat plate in the photographs, it is oversized to help distribute your weight across the majority of the seat itself, not a small round disk or four skinny arms. This thing is built like a TANK!The extra-large seat is padded and super comfortable and the material seems like it should hold up well. There is nothing flimsy or cheap about this amazing drummer's throne. One of the really nice features is the THREADED height adjustment with a LOCKING collar. No weak pneumatic piston that will give up the ghost early.Yes, these do cost a bit more than your average drummer's throne, but that money is well spent if you are looking for comfort or are a heavy-duty person. Even so, it is less than other brands that have "heavy duty" features.I love this throne so much that I will eventually be replacing all the stools in my music room with them, they are THAT good!If you have been looking for a heavy-duty throne, THIS IS THE ONE! Wait no more, you will NOT be disappointed.

Very nice seat
The foam is contoured to fit your body. Softer and larger then the 9608MB. If you want the larger back rest ( the same on that's on the 9608MB ) not those other little rounded things, get the GUBR model. That mounting bracket channel portion is the same. Remove the knob and threaded plate that fits inside the channel and just re-assemble those ( and the chrome L-shaped upright into your 9608OS seat. I like mine adjusted all the way out. Plus now you have an extra very heavy duty bracket that will clamp around a round shaft that has a 4" square plate on it. Amazon had the seat on sale for 137. Search the web, you'll find the back at music stores for 65.

New version of a great
HiI bought this same throne in 2007 when I got my first "real" drumset. That version was very padded , contoured and sturdy. The double braced legs were of high quality as were the rubber feet. The seat itself was of a fuzzy material that kind of reminded me of sitting on a muppet. Kinda weird, but soft, supportive and very comfortable. This throne did not move in height or laterally on the floor unless I wanted it to. As the name implied, it was a the rock of Gibraltar.I just received this new version today. It has the same lower equipment as the one I bought 7 (jeez, has it been that long?) years ago. Very rock solid and as I count, 6 locking points to freeze the seat height, leg splay, and hey, every point that needs to be locked in...Six points and the seat height is by screw, not by locking with a piston or straight tube. You lock onto the screw, just kinda adds to the stability and supportiveness of the seat height issue in my mind. The metal is very heavy and since I'm 6'5" and about 240lbs (on a good day) it feels very sturdy.BUT...the quality of the seat itself has gone down...way down. Instead of sitting on a muppet, you're sitting on a towel or two placed on a wooden stool. And it's not contoured at all. The covering for the padding is cheaper (hard to describe, but not at all like the earlier version) and the stitching is kinda cheap. What the hell? I am disappointed that the quality of the seat hasn't held up, but it is still relatively comfortable and sturdy. It does have the hook up for a backrest too, if you're interested. Haven't had this new one for awhile, but might look into it?OH! This new one comes with TWO sticker/decals! One is clear with white letters there other it the red oval. And it comes with a red oval magnet! Last one only came with red oval sticker and magnet. Thanks for reading! Happy Drumming!

Your Butt Will Thank You
I play guitar and have a recording studio in my basement. A drummer buddy always complained about how uncomfortable my old throne was. He’s a complainer so I never gave it much thought until I sat on it one day for about 15 mins. I felt his pain, so I purchased this Gibraltar throne. He’s happy. His butt is happy. And now we don’t hear a peep from him.It is like sitting on a cloud. Super comfortable. Super sturdy and the top material prevents the butt sweats, or so he says. It’s so nice I’m thinking about learning to play drums.
