Adorable ... Timeless
This was the favorite book of my oldest son, now in his 30's. It is now a favorite book of my grandson. Illustrations are adorable. My grandson asks me every time we read it on the Kindle to expand the pictures to look at them more closely. The story has a definitive beginning, middle and end - something that seems to be missing in so many simple children's books. Dog wakes up in the middle of the night thinking it's daytime, but where is the sun?! He wakes up other farm animals to help him find the sun. In all the commotion, Farmer's baby is awoken ... just as the sun rises. The animals are convinced Farmer's baby woke up the sun and lavish her with appreciative affection."Read it again, Nana!"

Wake Up, Sun book
This is one of the best books I've seen for a new level 2 reader. My little one really likes the story, and the words are at the right difficulty level for a new level 2 reader.

Farmer's gift book - must
If you live on a farm, this is a must for littles. Such a cute story. Was alittle surprised at the ending but that's what made it so great!

My one year old's favorite book.
This book is by far my one year old son's favorite book. We originally received it as a hand-me-down, but after reading it so frequently I ordered a new copy. This time I got the turtleback version. It's quite nice - the pages are all the same size as the paperback, but the cover is hard. Similar to the standard Dr. Seuss books. (No jacket, but those get messed up, torn and lost on children's books anyway.) It might not be worth the extra cost for most home libraries, but if it is your child's favorite book, then it's definitely worth it.On a side note, yes the farmer has a gun. But so does Yosemite Sam (I use his voice when narrating the farmer's lines), Tex Avery, kids in E.T. played with toy guns.. take it however you like...

Five Stars- I used this book in my first grade class and kids loved it
Will entertain the beginning reader and is easy to read. The first graders went to this one over and over when it was free choice reading. They loved making the animal sounds and the idea that the sun was 'asleep' and needed to be waked up. None of the kids were upset by the farmer with his gun as they are mature enough to know adults use guns for protection. The farmer was protecting his animals.

Cute book but Farmer has a gun.
I bought this book to read to my special needs students during our unit on daytime and nighttime. The story itself is cute, however I was surprised at the gun reference. The animals are making a lot of noise. The farmer thinks there's a fox scaring the animals. He grabs his gun and shoots hoping to kill the alleged fox and stop the animal racket. To me the gun reference was inappropriate and unnecessary. I did not feel comfortable reading that part to my students. I glued those pages together as a reminder to skip over it.

Cute story
My son learned to read this book in the first grade and it’s such a cute story. I’ve bought several as gifts now.
