meets all of my requirements
This vest appears to be very well made, I expect it will last a long time. The exterior fabric looks like it will withstand plenty of punishment. The insulation is moderately warm, like a medium-weight sweater but the wind doesn't blow through it. The garment is thin, no noticeable bulk, no problem fitting under a shell or jacket. I have not yet worn it in the rain so I can't comment on water repelancy. The outer fabric is fairly stiff but the front is short enough it doesn't bunch up while sitting. It may soften with use, I don't know yet.The armholes are just right, big enough for free movement but not so big as to allow the breeze to blow through. The collar is high enough to keep your neck warm when needed.I found the sizing to be too large. I have a 39" chest and 32" waist and returned the Medium for a Small. The Small fits me perfectly over a shirt and light sweater. The 2 exterior and 2 interior pockets are all large, 3 have zippers and 1 has Velcro. The exterior zippers are metal and the front zipper has a double pull.Altogether a great product. Not cheap but worth the money to me.

Smallish for 2XL, returned this got 3XL direct from Carhartt
I'm a big boy and very concerned about sizes. Before I purchased this, I checked fhe Carhartt site for their size chart (which I'm glad they had). I do already wear 2XL shirts and such. The measurements seemed correct and it was $10 cheaper on Amazon for the black one even though I wanted gray and they were out of stock. When I got it, I could not even close the vest. It was just a few inches too short, enough that I couldn't even suck in my gut to get the zipper hooked. So, I sent this back and got the 3XL in gray directly from Amazon and it fits perfectly. I'll probably grab another 3XL vest or jacket in Black. Before the year is up.I'm from NYC and Carhartt was a huge fashion statement way back. Now, I'm in Colorado (less than 30 days as I post this) where Carhartt never went out of style. I'm feeling nostalgic and I'm fitting in around here too. Ha!

Nice offering from Carhartt!
Got the XLT. I am 6'0 at 240lbs and the vest fit perfect. Two big zippered pockets up front with insulation. Left inside zippered pocket, right inside velcro pocket. Coated with rain repellent.Shipping was fast, vest is not the "stiff as a board" Carhartt material, but a lighter version of the canvas. Very soft and flexible right out of the package!Very happy with purchase.

Wasn't a vest guy til now.
6'3", 200, and I got a Large Tall. It's just a smidge too big with a flannel underneath, but I like it. With a fleece or other layers, it's perfect. The hanging loop is noticeable and rubs my neck a bit. The shoulders follow yours and don't look boxy. The zipper is a tough YKK metal one and is a little tricky til it breaks in. As stated in another review, for those of you that carry, you can fit a J-frame or small one in the left inside zip pocket or a full size in the outsides.

Warmth without bulk!
I feel like the best feature of this vest is how thin it is. Don't take that to mean flimsy. Its just so much less bulky compared to some of my other vests. It looks great too! Weather I'm wearing it with nice clothes, or my usual dirty work wear. The vest feels like a good quality item, and you can tell there was a lot of forethought in its design. Large interior pockets are nice, (left side is zippered, right side is larger with hook and loop closure) shrouded, zippered outside pockets are good too. I kind of miss having an outside chest pocket, but it would probably ruin the clean look. Overall, I'm very happy with this vest. Would be 5 stars if made in USA.

Brown is darker than the picture. 2nd one purchased in a different color. LOVE
Bought in the black last year and both the boyfriend and myself love it. Fit him perfect a true tall fit vest for my big 2xl Tall man. No belly or but crack showing when he lifts his arms up in the air working or when bending over. Loved it so much bought the brown and it is darker than the picture which i think it a great thing as i was hesiatant only because i was afraid it was too light and would get dirty quick. But am very pleased that it is a bit darker than the picture.

Nice Vest.... standard sizing, not Big & Tall
Nice vest. Exactly what is pictured. Even though the listing says "Big & Tall", these are standard sizes. If you need a "Tall" version of this vest, you it should specify it in the sizing drop down, if it gives you that option. If it doesn't specifically say that, then expect it to be standard sizing. No complaints on the vest. Shipping was fast and packaging was decent.

Looks good, well made
The fit was exact. Ordered the size the person normally wears, it fit perfectly, however, sent it back for one size larger so it could be worn over sweatshirts etc. Looks good, well made. Very pleased.Amazon has made returning something so easy - just repacked the vest in its original packing, took it to UPS, showed them the code I got on my phone from Amazon, they scanned it, printed a label and put it on the pkg, and gave me a receipt -- viola! I kept saying - is that all? Am I done? Really? Good job you guys!

I love this vest. Durable, high quality.
This is an amazing vest. If you're 2x normally you may want to go with XL with Carhartt gear
