Best badge reel ever
UPDATE #2: 15 months later this broke. The rubber piece that attaches the line to the badge holder broke and the line sucked back up into the reel. However in the time I had it it did not have any other issues or sagging in the line up until it broke.UPDATE: Almost 8 months later and this is still going strong. No issues with the line going slack or any defects. I use this to badge in and out of computers constantly at work and it is still performing the same as when I got it. 5 starsI'm a nurse and our badges are used for access to tap and go computer logins which means I am pulling on my badge reel constantly on my shift. Regular badge reels break down and fall apart after continuous use and get saggy and stop fully retracting. I've been using this since the end of May 2022 and it is in the same condition as when I received it. It has a removable clip if you want to hook on a loop or add keys or the classic clip style for wearing. The wire is plastic coated and the plastic has not worn down and the entire thing pulls smoothly and retracts quickly. I have zero complaints. My only con to this product is that as it does contain a metal line that appears to be durable is that it could be used as a method for strangulation if you had a patient who was a danger to others- I just keep that in mind and remove my badge from my shirt in those cases.

Strong and Long-Lasting Lanyard
I bought two of these metal lanyards for my work badges and they’ve been great. I’ve had one for over 5 years and it’s still holding strong. Durable, reliable, and perfect for work—I trust it every day.

Great quality
Weather do you work for a company with a corporate badge or carry a lot of car keys as a janitor this little guy solves your problem. Comes with a lanyard lightweight, but very durable. Receive many compliments on the aesthetics.

Heavier/ sturdier than I thought!
This thing is slick. It's a little bigger and heavier than I expected, but not to the point it's cumbersome. Can definitely tell it's durable from the moment I opened the package. The metal looks good and seems extremely solid, including the clip. Pulls out smoothly with a stronger than expected spring to retract it back in. I use this for the keys to my semi and it has been a blessing. 10/10 I would highly recommend!Edit: after about 4 months the plastic inside broke causing the spring to fail to retract. I'm surprised that all the parts are metal, but they chose to make that part plastic. But of an engineering flaw if you ask me. But it was good while it lasted, just wish it would have lasted longer. Reduced rating to 4 stars because of this.

Loved this but wait the rope changed is it gonna last?
The prior edition of this lanyard had a twisted steel thread rope I had it for 3 years and when the steel thread broke I was able to repair it three times once every year but it was way to take wire cutters, plyers and repair it.The quality was amazing the steel case the construction and a steel rope truly gave me confidence. This new one has all the same construction but now it has a rope that is supposed dyneema rope that according to the web is 15 times stronger. We will see and I will update this post of possible.

Solid and sturdy
This item is perfect for whoever that needs a sturdy retractable ID/key belt clip. I’ve used multiple of these before for years, the only weakness has been two things:One, if the wire is pulled past the end of the travel of the spool, it will separate. Which might be a safety feature, but it just means that it’s a failure point that needs to be taken into consideration. Two, after much use the wire will wear and the strands will separate near the key ring, causing injury if you grab it. That’s with the units I’ve had in the past, it looks like the design has changed since the last time I needed to replace it. If it performs differently, I’ll update my review, but otherwise I highly recommend these units!

Swivel is very weak.
The clip separates from the swivel connector on its own. Not sure if this one is just a lemon or if they are all this way. It is also very heavy. Returning mine.

Very nice quality, just not what I was looking for.
NOTE: My review is based on use as an ID badge holder, as it is advertised. This product seems great for 'bigger' jobs, but I think it's overdone for an ID badge holder. The string for my previous ID badge holder (one of the fairly cheap products you'll see on Amazon) snapped after a bit over two years of use (not bad for how cheap it was).I generally appreciate high-quality products made of nice materials, so I was excited to try this one. I really like the kevlar string and the metallic look. However, I just purchased another of the cheap badge holders, because this one had several things that I didn't like. I was going to return this one, but return shipping was going to cost half what I paid for it, so I'll keep it and find another use for it. I may bolt it to the front of my car to use as a winch. I mean, honestly, that could be very useful. :-)Admittedly, I can be a bit particular, so consider whether my complaints fit your situation.Things I didn't like:1. Bulky: The 'box' itself is much bulkier than I expected. I suspect it's bigger to accommodate the thick kevlar string and the strong retract action, but not certain. Not necessary for an ID badge. I'd prefer something much more compact.2. Crazy long: Using the (nice) carabiner, the total length from the inside of the carabiner to the bottom of my badge is over 9"! The bottom of my badge literally comes halfway down my thigh (I'm 6'1"). I really don't like it flopping around my thigh.3. Jiggles and "jingles" too much: To use the carabiner, you actually slide it into the clip, but then you constantly hear the "jingling" as you walk around. I don't want to hear my badge jiggle everywhere I go.4. Not secure (if you don't use carabiner): I like that it gives the option to use with or without the carabiner. I tried using without the carabiner (so it wouldn't hang so low), but I almost dropped it a couple of times. I like it securely clipped to my belt loop, which conflicts with problems 2 & 3 above. On the plus side, it seems super sturdy. Would probably be great for heavier jobs, but for an ID badge holder, I want something as compact and inconspicuous as possible. Seriously considering the winch idea, though.
