Liar, Liar, Hearts on Fire: Bro Code, Book 3

Love, laughter, and heart!
All hail Pippa! Who lives in the Pippaverse and writes wonderful, beautiful, fun stories for us to share with her. This one is the third book in the Bro Code series, a former rock band whose extended family includes not just themselves but also their relatives and many of their friends. They're a close knit fun loving group who are always there for each other. This story is about Tripp, the oldest and considered the most responsible one of the bunch. Tripp is a single dad with two small children. His dream is to save the local, long losing baseball team, the Fireballs, before they get sold and shipped across the country. He and his friends have a plan to buy the team themselves and turn it around. He is out with his brother at a club, trying to track down the current owner of the team when he runs into Lila and, totally out of character, ends up in a wild hookup. It doesn't end well. He's trying to again meet with the owner of the team when he finds out the owner of the team has died and the team has been inherited by none other than his almost hookup. And she doesn't want to sell! What follows is a madcap test of wills between two stubborn people who can't agree on anything, except maybe the wild attraction still between them that they are NOT going to give in to. The cast of characters is fantastic and while the the book is a standalone, if you're an avid Pippa reader (and you really should be), you will meet a lot of old friends. The kids are adorable and make up a big part of the book, especially when it comes to repeating things their "uncles" shouldn't be saying in.front of them. The book also has Pippa's usual crazy animals and wild text messages. While it is a little more serious than some of her previous books, it still has lots of craziness, lots of laughter, and lots of love.

another great book in this series
Secrets are revealed as we learn about Trip and Lila. Lovers to enemies to lovers- almost. This cast of characters is so entertaining and fun to read about. Tripp is a gem and everyone will learn to love Lila and what she offers this Bro Code group. Fun story.

Loved this hero
Get ready to fall for this hero; he is everything you could ever want in a guy! Tripp is a widower and single dad who is adorkable but strong at the same time. There are some really sweet (and hilarious) moments featuring him being a good dad AND a great guy, which will melt your heart. As with any book by Pippa Grant, there is quirky humor and so much lightness, but I felt like this one also had a more serious tone than anything I’ve read from her in the past. It wasn’t QUITE the escapism I was looking for (especially given our hero is terrified of germs, which struck a little too close to home at the moment), but it’s a solid addition to the series and a fun, sweet read. The story follows Tripp, a former boy band member turned husband and father who lost his wife a few years ago. He’s been focusing on his kids ever since and might be SLIGHTLY overprotective. When he meets Lila, it’s the perfect opportunity to get away from his reality for a little while, and the attraction sparks immediately. Things take a turn for the steamy, but they’re interrupted… which might be for the best since they soon learn they’ll be working together. As a workaholic without a family of her own, Lila isn’t quite sure how to handle Tripp, but she knows that she can’t stay away.Pippa Grant is one of my go-to authors for rom coms because she always brings the funny while sneaking in some heartfelt moments as well. This had all of that, but I almost wanted it to be quirkier. Lila’s not the kind of heroine I normally gravitate towards, and she brings a seriousness to the book that sometimes gave it a somber feel when paired with the heaviness of Tripp’s past. She does open up later on, and I loved the intimacy that builds between these two. I also loved the cast of characters – there are appearances from other Bro Code members and an introduction to the sports team we’ll be hearing more about in future books. I can’t wait for Davis’ book, because I think that’s going to be a good one, and I love a good sports romance so you can count me in for Grant’s next book. All in all, it’s a great addition to the series that stands on its own but is better when you’re familiar with the other characters. I received an ARC via Give Me Books (then purchased it for my collection) and am voluntarily leaving a review of this funny, heartfelt book.

family
Loved how this series makes family so important. How working through problems instead of giving up. Uplifting and gratifying, must read series.

Loved it!
I really enjoy Pippa Grant’s work and Liar, Liar, Hearts on Fire was no different. I loved Lila when she was introduced in Parker & Knox’s story Stud in the Stacks. Instead of her being all snotty to Parker and tearing her down she befriended her and lifted her up, so I was so happy to see them together as BFFs in this book and to see Lila get her HEA. Tripp was so sweet, strong, perfectly imperfect. I thought their story was so good and loved how they challenged each other while still giving into their feelings/attraction. Neither one was a doormat and neither expected that either. The writing was great and the story is not only romantic, but so funny too.

Another winner!
I’m trying to pace myself with Pippa Grant’s books because I’m going to be one sad puppy when I’ve read them all. I love that all of her stories are so different, but still have the humour that makes my solar plexus tingle. Thanks!

The First
I've read a gazillion of Pippa's books, I just LOVE them! This one was the first of her stories that really didn't do much for me. The Bro Code series has great characters, but Lila wasn't a very good addition; I didn't find her too interesting.
