The Most Beautiful Book in the World: 8 Novellas

I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it... there are 8 completely separate stories that follow different characters, in different situations. However each story is a short, profound discussion about why we live -- a theme that brings all 8 stories together. What is the character's goal, purpose, love, fear, journey? Are they living the life they truly want, or did they end up somewhere without thinking? I think the book can push us to ask why we are living the life we are living, while also allowing us to laugh or gasp about the moments the characters are experiencing.

Each story in this book is different, yet each one makes you think. Strange twists and endings that make you feel that life is worth living.

I thoroughly enjoyed this collection of short stories. The storytelling was particularly adept: witty, humorous, thought-provoking.A truly gifted writer.

The book is a collection of stories. They are all written in a rather simple language and the plot is the central element of this writing. Reading these stories doesn't give any aesthetic pleasure, it is all about the plot and one knows that the "solution" is on the last page. It can't get any simpler, it is all rather formulaic and quickly becomes boring. There is a certain refusal on the part of the author to recognize literature as an art form. In his mind, it is all in the plot and the "charm" of the story. He has no pleasure in dealing with language and words, which he treats only as an instrument to tell the story. Additionally, natural environment, objects or animals, all simply haven't registered their existence in the mind of the author. Only people. The book does make a good and quick airplane reading.

Story lengths are just right for a one-sitting Reading, I have no dislikes for the book, a wonderful reading experience.

I could add this to my top ten favorite books easily.

Each story was a little different from the last, but all good in their own right. I found a lot of the novellas haunting, in the best way possible.

Creative 8 short stories. Easy to read and enjoy . I read this first in French under the title 'Odette Toutlemonde et autres histoires'. I then bought it in English for a present and it is Titled ' The most beautiful book in the World'. Obviously these are two of the 8 short stories. Eric- Emmanuel is a wonderful creative writer good style and stories. However if you want 'depth' in short stories this might not be for you.

This author is a great find. I shall endeavour to read more. This book is indeed very beautiful to read and incredibly inspiring. Enjoy.

These short stories are a great read. Sad, amusing, thought provoking and always moving. After being recommended by a colleague, I would say they have a fitting title.
