It's like the included mid-side mic, but with the added distance power of the other shotgun. A great hybrid and I use it more than any other mic. **Q: Can I get mono audio using this mic? or is it always produces stereo?** A: In post production, you can get mono audio as the ssh6 only records in stereo (at least on the Zoom Q8). If you mean at the actual time of recording, no. It always records in stereo (One track for the front, one track from the sides). **Q: I assume this mic has the ability to record on 2 separate channels, one for each capsule, is this the case?** A: It does the MS type of recording, so if you chose to decode it, you would have a LCR feel. It will require you to update the firmware so that you can adjust the side record levels. When you just import the file, it will be on 2 tracks, with one of them being directional, and the other the off-mic. **Q: Does this work with the h8? i don't see it listed, but doesn't the h8 use the same capsule system as the h6?** A: The SSH-6 would be compatible with the H8.
