Don't waste your time and money
I bought these because I was going on a weeklong trip. Long story short, by the time I set everything up and left the house, I was sure I'd come home to dead plants. In theory these are nice, but keep in mind you have to supply your own bottles. I didn't have that much of a hard time finding ones that fit, your standard soda bottle will do, but if I had bought these any later than I had, I wouldn't have had time to collect enough bottles. The assembly I think is the hardest part. It's tedious and not worth the effort. The package comes with a formula you're supposed to follow (and I'm pretty sure it's in the description as well) so that your plants get consistent water slowly dripping from the bottle, but in actuality after screwing on the water bottle and adjusting the spout several times (thinking I was doing it wrong) no water even came out of the bottle (unless you count the leakage from the non-existent seal on the rim).I believe that the spout is supposed to let out air so the water drips but that doesn't work. I ended up having to stab a hole through the top of every bottle so that the drip feature would even work, even then, it was very inconsistent and could not reach the "drop count per minute" that I needed it to be at to last my whole trip. When I got home yesterday, most of my plants had withered and/or died. Granted, I didn't use a 2L bottle, but that circles back to my first point of having to gather enough bottles in the first place to water in all the different locations I needed them to.This product gave me no peace of mind during my trip and after screwing around with all the little parts for a couple hours and meticulously timing little water drops I pretty much gave up. I set everything up the day I left, knowing I'd come back to dying/ dead plants.Imo, spend the extra five dollars and get the ceramic ones that leech into the soil slowly as you plant needs it.

You have to poke a hole in the bottle
It works, just make sure to poke a hole in the bottom of the bottle to vent it. Otherwise it won’t drip. You have to experiment with the drip rate ahead of time to make sure it won’t run out of water while you’re on vacation. I purchased mini funnels to fill the bottle after poking a hole in it, but you can probably plug the hole with your finger while filling. It does not leak around the spout like the ones I purchased from the other app.

Indoor, light duty, works okay for the right application
I bought these hoping they would work in my outdoor Herb pots. I have used an older type of soda bottle dripper where you poke a hole in the side of the cone and the water drips directly out of the cone into the ground. I thought having the dripper mechanism above the ground and being able to control the drip speed would be a plus. However, while this item is nicely made, it's not really suited either for outdoor use, or use with a large (1 liter) soda bottle. The cone part of the mechanism is short and small. It cannot hold the weight of a 1 liter soda bottle filled with water. It either falls over or wants to bury itself and it's drip mechanism in the ground. The dripper fits into a hole in the top part of the cone, but it's not a particularly tight fit and the dripper wants to flip around when you're trying to adjust the drip speed. Adjusting the drip speed is like turning the dial on a safe you're trying to crack. You've got to have the right touch. I've adjusted to the exact drip I wanted, and a day later found it's no longer dripping or dripping too fast. Teflon tape does need to be wrapped around the threads of the bottle to prevent leaking at the connecting point, but this wasn't an issue for me.Overall this works okay for indoor applications with a small bottle.

Don’t waste your time - it’s not worth it
The item is package nicely, and the assembly is easy, but it does not work properly. After reading the reviews, I assembled 5 of these and left them to drip. I checked a few hours later and the water level was the same. I squeeze the top of the bottle to ensure the nozzle was open - it was - water came out. I went back an hour our so later, no additional water dripped out.I have these automatic waters in another brand that work perfectly. I am very disappointed with this poroduct. It’s not worth the money.

They Don’t Work
These DO NOT work. The threads to screw the bottle onto the spike, are not of any size/shape for any water bottles. I tried several.I have different set at my other home, purchased 3 summers ago, and they are fantastic! Work exactly as described.I thought I was purchasing the same ones, but sadly they are not.We are leaving tomorrow, and now my plants will be dead when I get back.I would not recommend these for anyone. Wish I could give them zero stars.
