Basic Illustrated Bike Touring and Bikepacking (Basic Illustrated Series) Paperback – Illustrated, October 1, 2015

This book was a great introduction to bikepacking and touring with the perfect amount of detail to get the reader well on the way to planning a successful trip. It covered everything well, from selecting the right equipment to guiding you through the planning process. It was also well written and not a chore to get through, like some guide books can be. To top it off, there were great pictures scattered throughout that really made me want to get out there and see the world. Highly recommended book!

i was hoping for something a little more in-depth, but i suppose its really a simple sport at heart, so maybe its as in-depth as it needs to be. after all, it does say BASIC right in the title...twice.good tips and gear advice, good pics of bike set-ups, but (again) its all pretty basic and not very in-depth.still, a good read that is getting my psyched for some summer travel.

Entry level information here. If you were thinking about getting into something like this, but had no resources or any other background, this would be a firm start. Ever owned a bike or gone camping? Then this isn't for you. It's too basic, and it wasn't until the last 3 pages did I get any information that I didn't know already.
