Struggles has its benefits
While reading this book, I was astounded to know that the story is fact-based on the author's life. It had it's discomforting struggles for the main character but I believe it was necessary to build up the story and to keep it going, demonstrating that life may be hard and difficult but you got to keep moving forward and liberate oneself from hardship. To describe this book in one word: perceptive. It made one aware that there are such people out there with heinous intentions, like the stepdad, and others with hearts of gold, like the sergent and grandfather. If the story was to be continued, I'd like to read about it more.

Family
I really like how the story values family, religion and good manners. I was amazed on how they respect their grand's. So incredible to know that there are people out there still doing the tradition I know. About Stella, I wonder how she made the decisions so quick. She has al this hardship but still trust men's easily. Does she really need a man in the house? Or she's afraid to be alone. I'm not sure, but whatever it is it's her decision. I just hope she is happy after all those challenges of her life. I could relate Stella's situations because I faced the same scenarios; I'm so glad its over. My focus now is: my kids and school. Hopefully whatever hardship that Stella experiencing in the past, she recovered by now and happy for the life she have. To Sentry, hopefully she's not holding grudges against anyone, who hurter her/her family. Gods always there to protect us, forgive then and you shall be forgiven. Very nice story, please continue writing and I'm waiting for the continuation. Good Luck!!! More Power To You!

Quaint short story
This is a quaint short story that leaves one wondering what is going to happen next, how is this tramatized 12 year old going to cope with her turbulant past? It's a good read for those who identify with living in a military family and overcoming descrimination. I enjoyed Raising sentry and look forward to it's continuation.

Pretty good read.
Grammatical errors aside, I thought the development of characters was well done and the overall themes of the book were interesting. Could have used a bit more variety as far as content though.
