The premise is literally a woman escaping an abusive sociopathic ex. Did you want to see her killed instead? Ive seen a bunch of trailers and decide to bite the absurd price of renting this for $20 and to be honest, I don't regret it. Was it the most plot twisting, thrilling movie ever? No, but it did entertain me throughout and surprised me in certain ways. Some things were a little cliche and cringe, but a lot of things were very relatable. Core theme of an abusive relationship was portrayed very well, and yes, abusers will try to isolate and control you in every way. The invisible man may seem like sci-fi concept, but its also a metaphor for the invisible trauma that victims carry everyday. Unfortunately, many people in real life don't get the chance to escape, as Cecillia did and so with this ending, I'm going to consider this a feel good movie. I don't care about the remakes in the past but if you're one of those movie purist, this ain't for you. TLDR: Just watch it if you're already here. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A solid thriller *by M***M on June 2, 2020* I had to write a review simply because of the ridiculous 1-star reviews claiming the movie is somehow "PC." I'm guessing a lot of thin skinned, delicate snowflakes just can't handle the fact that two of the main characters are Black? Or that the lead character actually fights back against an abusive man? I can't think of how else a person could walk away from this film thinking Hollywood is trying to plant PC messages in your brain. There are literally ZERO politics in this film. It's a good, solid thriller -- that's it. As for those who say that Elizabeth Moss is below average in attractiveness, PLEASE. In one breath you complain about the Hollywood elite, in another you sound like the exact type that Hollywood traditionally caters to: people who can't stand to see anyone less than a Barbie or Ken doll come to life on the big screen. Which do you want? A Hollywood that speaks to real people, or one that speaks only to itself? You can't have it both ways. Okay, rant over. The movie itself was very well done. Not a horror movie, but a good thriller that was engaging from start to finish and had enough moments of surprise to make it not seem formulaic.
