But I figured if Ford decided to make a design improvement, why shouldn't I add it to mine retroactively? Especially since changing it requires removal of all of this anyway. Some people remove the original bypass filter entirely, I just changed it as well and left it as is. It bolts up quite easily and has a nice drain plug which makes future changes less messy (easier to drop an almost-empty pan than a full one). Just remember to add an extra quart for the deeper pan. The 6.4 trans pan is only about $50. **Q: Is this really going to take a couple months for shipping?** A: Might didn't as I recall **Q: Is this a OEM Ford part?** A: Motorcraft is the aftermarket division of Ford. **Q: I have a 2009 Ford 450 with a 6.0 Diesel and need a transmission filter & fluid can anybody help?** A: If you have a torqshift 5r110 tranny, Only mercon SP or mercon LV fluid ONLY! (they are intererchangable/compatible) you can use the old TF-218 screen sump filter (in pan, only blocks trees and boulders) and the TF-227 bypass filter (external). Since you have an 09, you should have the torqshift 5r110W which uses a high flow sump filter (in pan) which is the 36423JAFT filter. The 5r110W has a deeper pan than the 5r110 to accommodate the better high flow sump filter. If you have the old 5r110, you can but an upgraded pan to accomodate the better filter and forget about the bypass filter.
