Secret Tokyo: Color Your Way to Calm Paperback – October 6, 2015

This is latest coloring book by Zoe de Las Cases. I was surprised to find it is the UK version of the book which is released in a larger format than the one that will be released in the US sometime in 2016. This is interesting as I had pre-ordered the latter and received the former. I may decide to also buy the US version depending on the size it ends up.The designs are very typical of this artist, with street scenes, “wallpaper” style prints, patterns, clothing scenes, and groupings of various clothing items. It is definitely a coloring book which is more about the women's fashion of Paris than it is about landmarks, food, etc.The pages are a nice heavyweight in white and are printed on both sides. The pages are not perforated and a few of the designs are printed right into the bound edge – which makes it difficult to draw and impossible to remove without losing some of the image. For those few, I don't know if I mind losing that last half inch but I wish it were not necessary.The designs are printed on both sides of the paper but do not span across two sheets. Each sheet has its full design on it. All of my markers and gel pens bleed through easily, so pencils are what I will probably use it I want to color pictures on both sides. If one side is not of interest, I will use the media I want but protect the following pages with a piece of freezer paper or cardstock to keep the ink from seeping through further into the book.

I wasn't interested in "adult coloring" until I saw this Zoe de Las Cases book. Now I'm an annoying coloring evangelist.Nothing against the other fine books out there but they just didn't call to me. Unlike most other adult coloring books I've seen, Zoe's designs are fully realized illustrations that could stand on their own without any color added. The hand drawn style looks like an artist's sketchbook...full of detail but also free and easy which for some reason makes me feel like I can color more freely too.Also her subject matter is so varied. Busy street scenes. Collections of interesting objects. One simple lovely thing. And on and on. Regardless of your mood you (and those coloring with you) can always find something interesting to color.Secret Tokyo, Secret Paris, Secret New York...try them all. Fun stuff on every page. Paris Street Fashion is also fantastic.These books are great for anyone looking for something a bit more artful and a little less mainstream than what you see for sale at Michael's.

I LOVE THIS COLORING BOOK. This was the first adult coloring book that I had bought and I think that it is amazing. I actually just recently finished this coloring book and it looks awesome (not because I am good at color but because the outlines are so beautiful. I am so happy with this that I have bought other ones of the same brand. If you are looking for something like this THIS IS THE WINNER. Coloring is a wonderful way to get away and relax and what better way to do that than to feel like you are relaxing in beautiful japan. Would recommend this to anyone who finds japan beautiful and wants to color.

Really cute and fun coloring book. The art is a loose, sketchy style that I haven't seen in other coloring books. There is a nice variety of designs - some full page patterns, some city scenes, and some pages of collections of items, like koi or tea kettles. The pages are double-sided and though the paper feels decently heavy, my pens did bleed through. It would have been 5 stars for me if it was only single sided. This book would be best if you like to color with pencils.

Nice quality coloring book with lovely drawings but too many fashion pictures (guess the word style in the title should have clued me in) while I was thinking it would be more street scenes with buildings and and all. But that was my error. It is a well done and beautiful coloring book and now that I've started using it, it is one one of my favorites of the many I own.

I love this coloring book. I am a Japanophile, and am saving up to go one day. That aside, I like the SECRET books because the drawing isn't as precise. They style is different and more freeing than other books. I really enjoy interpreting and coloring them. The pages are all different, and they are even different for different moods. Some are small and precise, others are large and free. This is my favorite coloring book and I will be back for more.

I bought this to have something to do in between phone calls at work, it is a very lovely coloring book that any fan of Japanese culture or adult coloring books would enjoy. I especially love the page filled with magical girl accessories. It was very cute and fun to color.

This could be five star if better quality paper is used. Even colored pencils show through on the other side...The artwork however is really nice.

Sehr schön gestaltetes Buch. Ist nur zu empfehlen. Die Seiten sind schön dick, so drückt nichts durch und man durch die großen Seiten und die vielen Motive lange etwas davon.
