Flexible Flyer Snow Boat Sled. 48” Plastic Sno Slider Bobsled, 48 x 24 x 7.25 inches, Model:912

Generally Good Design Ruined by Poor Implementation
The Good: - Size is great for multiple small kids or individual larger kids. - Shape is mostly good... Could be a bit more narrow, but this width is good for harder icy snow. - Red pad somewhat mitigates the brittle plastic issue, as it acts as a pro-active band-aid for the sled. The Bad: - Like most (all?) sleds these days, the plastic is brittle and breaks easily. Ours broke within the first hour of normal use. (This is common due to restrictions placed on the chemicals needed to make plastic flexible, so can't fault them too much for it.) - The guide grooves are curved (WTF?). If the snow is perfect, the outward curvature of the grooves acts as a brake, similar to the snow-plow stop a beginning skier uses. If the snow is not perfect (most often), one side of the sled will have more pressure than the other, causing it to turn sharply in that direction... Possibly dangerous, but certainly will ruin many a run.Suggestions to the Manufacturer: - What were you thinking with the curved guide grooves? Did anyone even test that idea? Straighten them out! - Increase the size of the red pad to fully cover the inside of the sled. No one cares about it's stated purpose (comfort), but it is a really good way of mitigating the issue of brittle plastic. I can tell by the way the sled cracks, that the red pad is protecting the parts it covers. - Reduce width to be as wide as the narrow part between the handles. If you feel the shape is important to your marketing, just hint at curves by flaring out 1/2" or so to prevent this from slowing the sled down in anything but the iciest surfaces. - Solidify (fill in) the guide grooves, so that they become structural support to further prevent cracking. The above changes would add maybe a few dollars in manufacturing costs, but would greatly increase value. You could add those costs to your sale price to maintain profit while gaining market share, as there is literally nothing else out there. Most sleds are complete junk for multiple difficult to resolve reasons... Yours is junk for very fixable reasons. Please fix the design and I'll be first in line to buy a couple more for next year.

SAD
"single ply" NO "protection" from bumps or rocks! :( NO protection for one's hands from the "handles" :Pbought 2 of them initially because they *looked* like ones I've had in the past that were "TWO ply" *hard plastic w an air space in between to absorb bumps and thick padding on the seating area -- *they* ALso had rigid grooving on their bottoms that was straight in the center and curved on the outsides so that if one leaned right or left one would TURN right or left -- while if one sat straight, one would travel iN a straight line. These are NOT *them* :P for the PRICE they're askin, they SHOULD BE!Sent em BOTH back.

IT WILL BREAK ON FIRST USE!!!!!!
Absolute piece of junk. For a rather expensive piece of plastic, I expected at least a bit of use. This broke the second time down a small slope with my 10 year old grandson on it. Not even 5 minutes of use! Of course it is past the return date. This had "glowing" reviews when purchased, but now I see that it has an (overly generous) 2-1/2 stars. I sense fraud!

Sturdy and secure sled
I am a plus sized person and this sled gave me the confidence in the durability to sled with my kids. The strong thick plastic, length and skid-proof lining, made sledding an enjoyable experience for me. The pull rope simplified the process of dragging it back to the top of hill, even carrying a toddler on board! The kids also enjoyed going down in pairs, feeling secure by holding hand grips. I don't think there is anything I dislike, except maybe the minimal color choices.

What fun!!!
If the amount of fun the granddaughters have had with their new sleds is any indication then I rate them all the way at the top. The sled seems to be made well and is durable. The neighborhood children like them too. (It's hard to tell if the neighboring boys like the sleds or our girls.) Nonetheless, the sleds are great!

Quality, durable sled
Sled arrived without packaging- so beware if it’s a gift. The sled seems incredibly durable. My 8 year old has taken the sled down some pretty steep hills with a 6 year old and they loved the experiences! No cracks, no breaks, and seems like it will last more than 1 winter.

Handles may brake easily
One of the handles broke after the first use. Other than that it still works fine and the kids love it

Rip off refund policy
I decided to return four of these sleds after I read the reviews, which all commented on the poor quality of the product. When I returned them I was notified that they had only refunded half of the price, even after I drove 75 miles to a UPS store to save the cost of shipping. I am very disappointed and will never buy a Flexible Flyer product again.
