Paint Worthy of a Child's Time
I have used many watercolor paints with children and Stockmar is by far the best way to go. You don't have to be a Waldorf educator to realize how the experience of mixing colors from these quality primaries is a far better way to spend precious childhood than muddying up a tray of cheap dry pre-mixed colors. The satisfaction children feel from manipulating quality art materials is worth the expense.Mixing up these paints for each use takes some time. I suggest pouring the bottles of paint directly into 20oz glass dropper bottles for storage. The droppers will save time, wasted paint, and mess if you're like me and you have 3 little painters waiting underfoot. Do not, however pre-mix the paint with water to thin it out for storage. It will go moldy and the pigments will settle to the bottom. oopsI use these paints with my 1, 3, and 6 year old daughters as well as in the Kindergarten classroom. Get some quality brushes. Large "filbert" shape brushes give young ones the control and smooth lines they are after. Set them up with their own setting of paint, brushes, and water and let them go for it! They will soon gain reverence for the quality materials you have placed before them.

Exquisite transluscent colors; keep blues in fridge.
these are the most beautiful and transluscent colors for water color painting that I know. It is a pity that they are so expensive. When I paint with my grandchildren, I premix them with water and paint wet on wet, and all the colors last -except the blues. The Prussian blue is particularly bad - it rots, and smells like rotten eggs, while the ultramarine also allows the growth of microorganisms which manifest as a stringy gelatanous substance. So I have taken to keeping them in small plastic containers with a lid and keeping the blues in the fridge. there they last a long time.

Beautiful, but high maintenance
Beautiful watercolors. They require a bit of experimentation and time regarding mixing colors. I recommend watching the YouTube video by Pepper and Pine "How to mix watercolor paint", as there are so many color options. These are not quick set-up watercolors. While they are lovely for children, I recommend planning on providing plenty of prep time prior to painting. Older children can definitely help. We also own washable liquid watercolors by Handy Art. While Handy Art does not come close to the quality of Stockmar, the colors are vibrant, washable, and set-up is faster for younger children.

Fantastic quality product! Impressed!
I was so skeptical about the price of this product, and when it came out red was damaged. I was going to return the set, but we had to use this on an emergency (we ran out of red in her other set) and she uses these for school. Super impressed with the quality. We even just added a drop of this and let it dry to use like pan watercolor.

It looks like used , expensive for the presentation. I wonder if the product is the original liquid

Beautiful but expensive
I mixed this paint with latex for a beautiful Waldorf-esque wall. It is better quality than those a fraction of the price, though I don't see why it needs to be quite so expensive. The colors are pleasant and simple.

4 stars because they are such brilliant paints - you need to paint jar set preferably to control them in use and store. 1 star off because they absolutely do not wash out of anything. We keep using but you need to take care!

Stunning
We painted a ton of white oak/maple wooden toys that my dad handmade for my baby. It took being a bit of a mixologist with the right amount of water to paint ratio to “ration” the paint and still have it look vibrant and amazing on wood, but once we got it down, I was so blown away by these colors. You won’t regret spending $35+ on a couple of small waterbased paint colors. Obviously you’re paying for the reputation of the safe & nontoxic brand, but also- you can’t buy these colors at your local hobby lobby / michaels. These are incredible! Highly recommend!
