Can you trade with others when playing a gba pokémon rom?

I cant confirm wireless communication, but trading between actual pokemon roms, (not rom hacks), does work

Can this be used as a slot 2 device in conjunction with an r4 card to dump ds game saves? similar to the ez flash 3 in 1?

Whichever it's called: deluxe, special edition, etc .. THAT'S the one that connects the 2 slots together. The basic ez flash black only does GBA roms that I know of so far

Can you list the file types that this will play?

I know for a fact it will play .gba files, including files that have been patched with mods.

What function does the internal battery serve? When it eventually runs dry will all my save data be deleted?

The battery is just for games that use a clock. The saves are backed up on your SD card and will not be lost.
