Rustic Cast Iron Rose Compass Nautical Beach House Wall Art Outdoor Garden Decor

I love this item, which is the only reason I am giving it 3 stars. If the seller had any sense on how to ship it without it breaking, I wouldn't hesitate to give it 5 stars! I ordered it knowing full well (based on other's reviews) that it would most likely be broken upon receipt, and sure enough, the 'S' on the bottom was broken. It was tempting to send it back, but since the seller's method of shipping is a flimsy plastic envelope, I didn't expect much better on a second attempt, so, like many others, I decided to glue it back together (using 2 part epoxy resin), and it worked fine. If I had paid $50 or more dollars (which seems to be the starting point for similar items), then I would have expected more... but at $18 and change, I guess I was willing to work with it. The thing is... in my opinion, the problem of breaking could be easily and relatively inexpensively remedied... all it would take is to attach it to a piece of cardboard using a couple of wire ties, or even a dab or two of hot glue, so that N, E, S & W would not be the first things to hit when the edge of the envelope comes in contact with something.At any rate, I do love the addition to my man cave, and I made an interesting, accidental discovery the other night while watching the Disney movie "The Adventures of Huck Finn." Starting at about the 29 min and 23 sec mark, you will see this exact same compass rose on the cabin door of the ship Huck and Jim boarded during a storm on the Mississippi River at night (see attached pic). At any rate, if you don't mind gluing the broken piece(s) when you get it, it's a nice item for the price.

I drilled two holes and countersunk screws to hang the casting. Otherwise you can hook through the open design.The piece was not packed well. Cast needs attached to someting ridged. Mine arrived with the "S" broken off. I welded it back on so that turned out Ok.Overall a tad crooked in the casting line up and a tad rough. But goog enough for a wall hanger

This item arrived in perfect shape and was a Christmas gift for my husband. He says it remains to be seen how it holds up in our upstate NY winters, but he intends to put it on a stump or tile on the ground (after all, how can you orient a compass rose hanging on a wall?) We are very satisfied with this item.

Just hung it :) I used wires. super cute!! I’m a geography nerd so it’s perfect decor. Will have to wait and see how well it holds up in weather.

The compass looks great, but Amazon can’t figure out how to ship it properly. The first one I ordered came in a padded envelope with the S and part of the E broken off. The replacement I ordered again came in a padded envelope with the S broken off (you can see in the pics it’s one of the thinnest parts of the piece). I would give it a better review because I like the compass itself, but if they aren’t going to ship it in a box or if the driver is literally going to drop it on a concrete porch, then you are wasting your time ordering this.

Nice quality cast iron compass rose. I put mine in the patio pointing to true north (by looking at the north star) and it looks great.

Beautiful, just what I was looking for. Quite heavy, well made. Only negative was it has nothing to help hang it on the wall.

Its perfect. Real iron.It goes great with my pirate theme.
