Great Buy for the $$$
Recently purchased two other holsters for my S&W 642 and was disappointed in their fit and quality. This holster, so far, has met all my expectations. It fits, is made of quality leather, and is well made. Although it is somewhat tight, that’s understandable, as it’s still new and not broken in. I feel confident it will work out and will be my daily carry holster.

Really Nice Holster for Open Carry, But Maybe Not for CC
1791 knows how to make a holster, that's for sure. The quality and craftsmanship are top notch but unfortunately holsters aren't really a one-size-fits-all kind of thing, especially when it comes to conceal carry.I already own a holster from 1791 and it's been awesome, and was looking to find the same thing for my S&W 442 J-Frame. I wanted a non-appendix, OWB option for conceal carry and while this holster ticks all the boxes for retention, trigger protection and durability, it prints too much for me to be useful. If I were using this for open carry, it's five-star perfect.Trust me, I'm not at all happy to return it, but I think it's not so much a reflection of the holster itself, but really comes down to body type vs. holster configuration.

Good holster
Fits my j frame perfect. Gun will not fall out because it is tight. Gun sits higher and easier to conceal with shorter shirt. I wish I bought all my other holsters as "paddle" holsters.

Second time I've bought a 1791 Gunleather and regret both
This was my second purchase of a holster from 1791 Gunleather. I couldn't return the first one, but this one is being returned. The problem with both is that the leather is just too thick and stiff to be useable. The first one was for a Ruger LCP Max. The holster more than doubled the thickness of the gun due to the thickness of the leather (about 1/4 inch). With a layer of leather on each side of the gun plus the leather of the belt lops, the thing was huge and impossible for CCW. The second purchase was for a S&W 642, but I had the same complaint. The holster is just too big and bulkly to have any useful concealability. The holsters are so stiff that I can't imagine them being comfortable for EDC.

Excellent quality for my s&w revolver
Although I'll probably never carry my 5 shot revolver, I wanted to have that option. The quality is excellent, paddle mount is always preferred in my case.
