All plastic, but with decent support.
Original review: The phone clamp is very effective, but unfortunately the handle bar clamp shattered a week after I installed it during a crash. I've since switched to only metal mounts for durability.Update 2018-05-30: Bumping up to 3 stars because Sunvalley reached out to me and sent a free replacement, no questions asked. While it may not survive rough riding conditions, it's convenient for casual use and the support from the manufacturer is very nice to see.Update 2018-07-02: Dropping to 1 star because this mount almost resulted in losing my phone over the golden gate bridge when the two halves separated after hitting a small bump in the concrete. The only thing saving my phone was a good case and lucky bounce. I'll never trust my phone to cheap mount again and won't give it to anyone else out of fear they'll blame me for their broken phone. Compared to the metal mounts I recommend, this is made from very cheap plastic that will not survive even casual biking. My inbox is also full of emails from the vendor demanding that I give them a 4 star review since they sent me a replacement unit no-questions-asked. Had they stated the 4 star review was a requirement, or that they would harass me until I gave them an unwarranted high review, I would have never accepted the replacement. They are welcome to have this junk back if they want to pay for the shipping.

They helped me!!
At first glance I loved it. But then I went to assemble the unit to use and it wouldn't assemble. You're suppose to put the silicone web between the holder and the mount and then slide the holder onto the mount. But the silicone web doesn't allow the mount to slide onto the mount because of the thickness. The silicone web is what holds your phone securely on while you're riding. I then tried to see if the mount would slide on without the web and it slide right on. The problem now is that the holder will not slide off of the mount. I cannot use the phone holder at all because I will not use it without the web and you can't get the web on because it's too thick to fit between the holder and the mount. And now I can't get the holder to disengage from the mount. So just wasted pieces of plastic to me. Can't use it.Follow up to my last review.I have to take back my low rating. The shipper contacted me after I left my first review. They helped me resolve my issue and even sent me a photo to help. I was able to put the silicone webbing onto the mount. It actually was able to stretch over the clamp and is now positioned between the mount and holder. Now, its outside and not in between the actual mount and holder where it actually connects. You have to stretch one of the webbing holes in the middle and pull it over the mount to sit between the mount and holder. And it still works this way! Thank you for helping me.

Great customer service and a solid product.
I purchased this mostly because it was highly rated on amazon and because it was fairly inexpensive, when it arrived the packaging was nice (it includes two silicone(rubber?) bands to ensure your phone stays put one black and one orange). I had a minor factory defect which was immediately resolved, beyond my expectations, by the warranty. I wanted to wait a bit before writing up my review so I could get a good idea of how well this was going to last. As such I've had my holder for about a month now and everything is holding up perfectly, the phone is stable but easily rotates if you want it to for any reason. Installation and removal of the phone takes only a few seconds, and is very secure. Because of my previously mentioned issue I now also have a lot of faith in the company (TaoTronics) and know that if something were to fail I'd be covered. I want to take a second to thank Fafa again for their help in resolving my issue, honestly can't say enough good things about this product or this company. Keep up the great work!

Lightweight, does not hold up
I've had this mount for a little over two months, used maybe a dozen times, and it's already broken. The housing that covers the internal gears (the part that makes the side holders tighten and release) has detached and the side clamps no longer move. The bottom piece has also rotated completely around so it no longer holds the phone. I loved this mount at first: it's lightweight, easy to install, seems very secure. I used it on in-city commutes to work, riding on street, sidewalks, and paved trails. My ride is pretty smooth, there are occasional bumps when crossing curbs or on trails but nothing major. You might like this product if your rides are fairly slow with no bumps.

Might be good for weekend riders, not so much for daily grinders.
Almost made it a month. 80 miles of road and trail and yesterday it fell apart at the end of my first 20+ mile ride. The only thing that kept my droid turbo 2 from falling out was the rubber holder. Other than that it's useless now.I liked the fact it was adjustable, shame the guts couldn't hold up to any real usage. I'm just glad it gave out now and not in the middle of RAGBRAI or a century ride.

Elaborately engineered, reasonably flexible, works
[Amendment -- the company saw that I wasn't totally satisfied and refunded my money. I like the customer service and I've upgraded my star rating accordingly. My original unmodified review appears below.]I tried this first on my road bike. It held the phone OK but it's so big and goofy looking that I ended up replacing it with a bike computer that displays key information from the phone (initially a Wahoo RFLKT but then a Wahoo Elemnt Bolt). I transferred the Taotronics to my commuter bike and it did OK. Sometimes the rubber 'holders' slip from a corner to two but the phone never flies out. Ultimately I decided I didn't really need to mount my phone during my (brief) commute, so the Taotronics was repurposed again as a phone mount on a shelving unit next to my Zwift station in the garage. One tip -- the metal screw that passes through the mount and allows you to tighten the holder will scratch your handlebars. Put a piece of rubber underneath it (I used a section of cut innertube).

Great Mount
Great quality, as described, nice that it shipped immediately. It is easy on and off, the clamp woks really well as it fits the handlebars or the stem. Solid enough to hold my iPhone 6 plus on my case.
