A Signal Savior – Sangean ANT-60 Short Wave Antenna Review
I'm thrilled to share my outstanding experience with the Sangean ANT-60 Short Wave Antenna! As an avid shortwave radio enthusiast and DXer (distant signal hunter), I've struggled with mediocre antennas – until this game-changer arrived.**Unboxing and Build Quality**The ANT-60 arrived promptly, well-packaged, and surprisingly lightweight. Its compact design (23.6 x 5.5 x 2.4 inches) belies its powerful performance. The antenna's sturdy construction and sleek appearance suggest superior quality – which it delivers.**Easy Installation and Versatility**Setup was a breeze – merely attach the included BNC connector to my radio and mount the antenna vertically or horizontally (I chose vertical). The ANT-60 works seamlessly with various shortwave radios, scanners, and receivers. Its wide frequency range (2-30 MHz) covers essential shortwave bands.**Signal Boost and Noise Reduction**The real magic happens when you turn on your radio – signals leap to life! The ANT-60 significantly enhances reception quality, pulling in distant stations with clarity and strength. Noise reduction is equally impressive, minimizing interference and static. My favorite international broadcasts now sound crystal clear.**Performance Comparison and Field Testing**Side-by-side testing with my previous antenna revealed the ANT-60's superiority – stronger signals, better selectivity, and reduced fading. Field tests in various environments (urban, rural, indoors, outdoors) consistently demonstrated its excellence.**Conclusion**The Sangean ANT-60 Short Wave Antenna has revolutionized my shortwave listening experience – stronger signals, reduced noise, and effortless installation make it a must-have for enthusiasts. Whether you're a casual listener or serious DXer, this antenna will elevate your enjoyment.Pros:* Compact design with powerful performance* Easy installation and versatile connectivity* Significant signal boost and noise reduction* Wide frequency range covering essential shortwave bands* Durable construction and sleek appearanceCons: None noted during extensive testing and comparison

Very inexpensive solution to good reception
The media could not be loaded. Bought this for my Choyong LC90 radio. See the video for how well it works for short wave reception. I am doing the video during the day and receiving distant stations. At night it is way better. Sangean provides a clip on adapter if your radio does not have an external 1/8 jack for antenna a very nice touch. In my video I have it plugged in to the external antenna. Right now is a great time for SW reception because we are at the peak of sunspot cycle. Unit winds up very nicely. Just be careful not to tangle it up like some reviewers stated. There is no problem if you wind it back with slight tension on the wire. For the price it is a nice little package. Yeah you could cut a piece of wire to 28 ft and use it but for the price you have a nice reusable antenna.

A very useful, simple accessory
I have two Eton (Grundig) radios. Both the S350DL and the mini300 are good radios for me. The addition of this useful little accessory, this random wire, has made both radios even better receivers. In short, sometimes the additional antenna helps with reception, sometimes the effect is negligible, in a few instances it is best to disconnect the antenna. In talking to a friend who is very knowledgeable about all things radio, this is what can be expected of this type of simple, easy to use, equipment. I do use this antenna in conjunction with a grounding wire when using the S350DL, and I find the combination to be very effective. The sensible adapter clip works fine with either radio's antenna. Were I to recommend any improvements to this product (I am doing so here), I'd suggest the addition of a sort of lock-in-place device, such as one often finds on tape measures, or fishing spools. The strap is handy, but a hook of some sort off of the spool case would also be a useful feature. Of course, one can fashion a hook and employ it with the strap to partially work around this. These are suggestions from an "indoor user", stringing about windows and curtains where these sort of features would be quite useful, and the kind of user likely to gain in numbers over time.Overall, this is a very useful device for better SW listening. I'd recommend this simple antenna to anyone who is looking for a way to easily improve SW reception. It's not a panacea for SW reception issues, but it certainly does help one's reception in a lot of circumstances. The reasonable price and super saver delivery are also positive factors.

The reel works smoothly
I purchased my Sangean ANT-60 in 2011, 13 years ago. In the intervening years I've gotten other similar real antennas included with shortwave radios I bought. They're all about the same except for one very important characteristic -- how easy the antenna is to reel in. Some of them stick and reeling the antenna back in is tedious and frustrating. The ANT-60 works pretty smoothly -- and a tiny bit of silicone lubricant makes it perfect. The antenna terminates in a 3.5 mm phone jack, the almost universal connector for portable shortwave radios. For radios with no antenna jack, the ANT-60 comes with an adaptor that clips onto the end of the telescopic antenna. The ANT-60 also comes with a short strap and a clip suitable for attaching the end to a tree limb or something else convenient. It's a piece of wire with a phone plug rolled up in a reel. This isn't rocket science, but this model works the best. If mine ever got lost or finally broke, I'd buy this model again.

Increases range of reception
A very easy and convenient way to more strongly bring in distant frequencies on Shortwave and SSB. Although it’s not the best antenna, it is much better than the telescopic antenna on your radio. Its portability and ease of use is what makes this great. Well worth buying. I own 3 for each radio I have.
