The flow and structure is different than Darth Vader & Son. DV&S has a new scene on every page, unrelated to the previous page's scene. This book, by contrast, starts with an over-aching plot for the first couple of pages and revisited at the end, about Vader reading a bedtime story. What follows are two-frame spreads where two pages complete each idea about a Star Wars character and their particular bedtime scenario. It's a cute book, but not quite the bang for the buck that you get if you have both the Darth Vader and Son book as well as the calendar (they don't copy each other exactly). Regardless of Goodnight Darth Vader not being my favorite, I do plan to continue to collect all the books in this series. My 3yo son knows the characters, and I know the jokes, so it's a win-win. Strong work overall!
