NO DISAPPOINTMENT HERE...
I'm a beginner (with no musical experience) that didn't want to make my first purchase an inexpensive one. I believe you usually get what you pay for and didn't want to be so disappointed that it turned me off altogether. This concert ukulele seems to be of exceptional quality. It tunes easily, sounds wonderful, but is slightly smaller than I anticipated. My challenge with chords and fingering the frets in no way is representive of the quality of this beautiful instrument. I look forward to practicing frequently and definitely recommend this model and seller.

Beautiful!
This ukulele sounds great. I am just a beginner, but I have played with many while making my decision. This one looks nice and sounds clear. Great buy.

Surprisingly good value for money!
Purchased one awhile back from a local store, not because I needed another instrument but because it was so rare to find an entry level uke that had close to excellent intonation and playability. I was actually helping a neophyte select from different choices when I came across the uke. What made the sale was that it was almost 40% off the sticker price. So now I have it as my "banger" which I can take anywhere without worrying too much about having to bring a case or being careful with it.Sound: Warm and heavier on the low end primarily to the mahogany used.Setup: Excellent action low enough for ease of play - yet no fret buzz.Intonation: Excellent (tested all the way up to the 12th fret with a digital tuner) with only very slight deviations in pitch.Sustain: Fair compared to some of my other instruments. A change of strings might remedy that.Build: Plain but solidly built with nice fit and finish.Frets: Slightly sharp all the way up fretboard but not a issue.Tuner: Open geared tuners. They feel a little loose although it hasn't created an issue with the strings staying in tune.Finish: Matt with a semi-gloss finish on the back of the neck.Playability: Very Good for the price even when compared to instruments twice the price. As with any instrument that's cheap or expensive, it's a crapshoot finding one that's has great playability (as noted above). I can't attest to the consistency of the build quality of the instrument purchased online even though the one I purchased is fabulous. Probably I just got lucky.Just as a brief note, the first uke I bought was a Cordoba 15CM which I traded back because it sounded boxy and had relatively poor intonation. Back then I had no clue about what to consider when buying a ukulele or what I should look for or even what sounded good (despite being a guitar player for many years). Protégé is made by Cordoba and surprisingly this bargain line sounds better than the comparably priced 15CM that I first owned. This would make a great starter or throw-around uke if you can find one that has the same playability.Current Instruments:Ohana SK-50WG soprano (solid cedar top)Kala KA-SSLNG soprano (solid spruce top)Kala KA-SLNG soprano (mahogany top)Makai LK-80W soprano (solid cedar top)Lanikai LQA-CCA Quilt Ash Concert CutawayOscar Schmidt OU6 tenor (laminated Koa) - Low GVintage Harmony sopranoRubin acoustic electric soprano (laminated zebra wood)Previously owned:Lanikai LU21 soprano (laminated mahogany)Lanikai LU22CG Concert (laminated mahogany)Cordoba 15CM concertIbanez UEW30RWE Concert Cutaway Acoustic Electric (Rosewood)Rubin Acacia Acoustic Electric soprano

Sharp edges!
This is a pretty little thing, but I figured, buying Cordoba, even at this price point, it would be of great value. But, the metal fret wires extend off the sides of the neck and are so sharp!! They feel like raw cut wire. I'm not sure that I will be able to play it! I'm going to have to sand them down, but I'm afraid to damage the neck. Otherwise, my fingers are going to get shredded!

Wouldn't stay tuned
My daughter bought this protege u1 concert uke with money she saved up.. i was unimpressed with the cheap decal on the front. It looked like a sticker. I took her for a uke lesson and it would not stay tuned. They wanted me to pay for repairs or return it so we returned it.

Great starter ukelele!
My 6yr old daughter wanted to learn and this was a good starter one for her. We use the yousician app and she's been progressing great. Also, I've been using it myself and even though I thought it would be small its been working fine for me also.

This Ukelele has beautiful sound and looks gorgeous
This Ukelele has beautiful sound and looks gorgeous. Just check the tuning gears as they might be a tad on the loose side, but a quick turn with a screw driver should tighten them right up.

Cordoba for the win
This was a steal! I picked up a soprano ukelele by Mahalo a while back. It was a good little instrument but I wanted to see how it felt to a concert size uke. I did my research and it came down to Cordoba or Kala. My friend owns a Concert Kala and I've played it before so I knew what I was getting into if I went that direction. I really liked her Kala but something pulled me to give the Cordoba a shot and let me promise you it was the BEST decision. The protege is an awesome value, amazing quality and sounds beautiful. It is rich and warm and holds it's tune much longer than some of the other ukes I've had experience with. I have zero complaints and would recommend Cordoba to anyone who asks. The uke I received is considerably darker than what appears in the photo but I have no complaints about that.
