How can I tell what grit the stick is?

Search for keystone sanding sticks in Google or Amazon. There are two listing that sell sets of 4 colors. Those sets show the color codes. Green 80 grit Brown 100 grit Dark blue 120 grit Grey 180 grit Yellow 240 grit White 320 grit Black 400 grit

Do they snap easily OR do they remain whole during sanding process? Thank you.

They do not snap. I cut with scissors. They remain whole unless saturated - they peel apart. It is inconsistent, per pack, how many of each grit is in the pack. Colors often mean nothing. I paid my nephew to separate by color. Still useful!

It's hard to say with certainty. Based on some of the information I've been able to find the plain, standard, white sticks are most likely the 320 grit. But, for these larger bundles some images and product information states that the colors can vary from pack to pack, meaning color may not mean anything.

Can you use these in a scroll saw?

As stated, they are an abrasive glued to a foam substrate. Not designed to use in a machine so my answer would be no. However if you are like me, you might find some success if you can tighten them in a very slow running scroll saw using "very lite" pressure and be willing to replace them frequently. They work very well and efficiently by hand.
