WORKS LIKE A CHARM- but DON'T PANIC and leave them in for longer!!
I'm a teacher and had my kids make shrinky dink keychains for Father's Day. They turned out AMAZING!**One SUPER IMPORTANT TIP: the package says that it only takes like 2-3 minutes to shrink all the way... I timed the shrinking and at 2 minutes the shrinky dink paper was curling up and looking like it was completely ruined so I panicked and tried various ways to flatten them- DON'T DO THAT! Just trust and leave them in there for about 5-7 minutes and they will go from completely curled up to completely flat and gorgeous. If you take them out early all curled up, don't worry, just stick them back in and they fix themselves!I cut the shrinky dink paper into fourths and used a hole puncher to punch holes before baking and it was the perfect size. I also made some super cute customized cat keychains! My students and I used colored pencil for the pictures and then I spray painted theirs to seal. Put clear nail polish on top of mine and that works too. So easy and looks great!

A Great Idea
Every now and then I have a really great idea. Last Christmas, I was looking at my kids Christmas lists. Another piece of paper for a baby book I may never get around to putting together. That's when I had my stroke of genius - I would have them write their Christmas lists on Shrinky Dink paper and then I could turn them into ornaments. I have to admit, they turned out so super cute. If you decided to try this, be aware that because the entire paper is being used, it will curl up quite a bit and you may have to flatten it out after about 3 mins in the oven. I put it back for another minute after I flattened it out. They didn't come out completely flat and did have a little bit of shape still to them, even after flattening out, but they are really cute and now I can start a collection of Christmas List ornaments. I think this will be something that my kids will really enjoy looking back on as they get older. It's memento of not only their writing skills through the years, but also of what they liked at certain ages.

They finally come pre-sanded!
I've bought several types of Shrinky Dinks over the years. They ALL say that in order to keep the ink from rubbing off later, that you need to sand them first. Sanding them is an extra step that nobody wants to take. Plus the sharpies run in the grooves if you sand them too long, and the plastic doesn't turn out evenly if part is sanded too much or not enough. These Shrinky Dinks come PRE-SANDED. That's what these are. And they are by far and away the best ones. I've made darling projects with the others that wind up rubbing off later because I didn't sand them first. Plus the finish that's not shiny looks much more professional. These are the Shrinky Dinks to buy.

Awesome Product!
Tested it out with a Tinkerbell. I drew first (on the frosted side) with a mechanical pencil (which erases on it very well) then used uni posca paint pens to paint with. I then used an x acto knife to cut her out and a hole punch a few times to make a good size hole to shrink to a proper pendant size hole and followed the instructions - set the oven temp to 325 and put her on a cooking tray lined with parchment paper. Put it in the oven when it was fully preheated. It said bake 1-3 minutes, but it needed longer. It does start folding over on itself badly, but let it keep baking until it flattens itself out. I think it really took about 5 minutes and it's still slightly bendy when you take it out for the first few seconds to fix some spots that might not have flattened completely. You need to watch it constantly and don't take it out to soon or it will stay folded.

Great product with a few limitations
This is a fabulous product when used properly. I have been stamping, coloring with alcohol markers and colored pencils, and even die cutting. You need to use Tsukineko StazOn Ink for stamping. Most other inks need to be heat set on plastic, and that is difficult with shrink plastic. The only markers that will work on the clear plastic are alcohol markers and they will dissolve Stazon ink, so you need to color on the other side.Colored pencils work well, although my cheap 72-color Raffine Marco Fine Art Colored Pencils worked better than my Prismacolors. You will need to sand the sheet thoroughly before stamping and coloring. I used 400 grit Wetordry (the black stuff). This stuff really shrinks a lot. See the attached pictures for examples. The Stampendous Laurel Burch Indigo Cats Stamp Set was cut out by hand and a hole punched between the ears before shrinking. The top left cat was colored with alcohol markers (all kinds) the bottom left was made with colored pencils. The cat on the right was cut out of #6 plastic (the kind you get in a box from the salad bar). It did not shrink as much and was somewhat distorted, but it's a cheap substitute if you want to practice. The Tim Holtz Crazy Cats was stamped and colored with markers. I wrote on the front of the stamp to remind myself which side was stamped on. I die cut out the figure which worked beautifully, but I don't know if this will work with all dies or if it might damage them. I used a heat gun to shrink the plastic. It goes really fast, although you need a pan to keep the plastic from blowing away. I did have a couple of items that did not uncurl, but most came out great. This stuff scratches really easily. I wish that they had included tissue between each sheet, as just pulling out a sheet and returning it can make a mark. This is a great product as long as you understand the limitations.

Parent/Adult help necessary- but much fun for kids
The whole premise of these is you draw characters on the sheet (in various sizes), colour them in, cut them out- and bake them (at which point they shrink). My 8 year old *loves* these- though we did experience some issues with 1) the colours that would work for the oven- and 2) the oven itself........ These are *not* for children to use on their own- especially the oven stage where they have to bake them. Its a fair bit of work to get a final product from these- and the sheets are incredibly expensive for what you're buying. I'm happy my children love these- but I'm not convinced that I'd buy them again given the hassle of using them and how expensive they are

SO MUCH FUN!
THIS IS SOOOOO MUCH FUN. I am 27 years old and i had a blast. Haha. You need to draw the items at least 1/4th the size the sheet of paper to ensure they are a good size when shrunk. Make sure you dont draw anything too complicated to cut out, as the plastic has a big potential to crack if cut incorrectly. I used sharpies to color them in before shrinking. They turned out great but the colors did darken (intensify) a bit..so keep that in mind!! All in all these were very cool and i definitely want to keep playing around with them.

Great Fun and Versatile Product!
Tried this out and loved it!! It's really simple to use for a lot of different crafts. For people having trouble drawing on it because of the smooth surface, you can just take some fine sand paper and rough it up a bit. I found that makes it easier for the surface to take pencil crayons or other colors. I tried using acrylic paint on the surface and it kind of worked? If you are going to use it then just water it a bit and use a thin layer, because if you put it on thickly then the paint bunches up when it shrinks (since the paint is "plastic-y"). Lastly when cutting your shapes out, if you have a sharp angle in your shape, cut it from different angles so that it does not crack. Even if there is a small crack you don't really have to worry about it because it's going to get thicker and shrink anyways. :)

Fantastic Product
Works great with paint markers, Sharpie markers, chalk pastel and pencil crayon (when pre-scuffed with a nail file). I also found this brand of shrink plastic to work best if you want to shrink your images down by 50%: this one does that; other brands I've tried might shrink down about 60% to the original size.

Very great product worth the money
What can I say it does exactly what it supposed to do. it’s shrink plastic art. shrinky dinkys actually works. I was able to make some really great shrink plastic charms I didn’t use all of the paper I got but I will definitely be making more in the very the close future. It’s worth the money. And it also ships very fast I got them well before of the day it was supposed to arrive. Great product.

Good product for the price.
When you know how to manipulate this, there is an infinity of possibility you can do.I really love it.* Shrinks about 2.5 of it original size.

Creative/Fun
This product is great for passing the time and unleashing creativity. My only tip is to bake them on a FLAT and CLEAN surface. Any bumps/crumbs present while baking/cooling could affect your work. Also, make sure to store your unbaked sheets in a safe spot to avoid scratches and such. Will definitely purchase again when I run out :)(I use Bic permanent markers for the drawing part, they work great)

Not impressed
I purchased 2 pkgs Shrinky Dinks to use with my grandchildren. We tried with the recommended paints making handprints and it was a total failure. Handprints rolled in on themselves. Tried with larger pattern traced onto plastic sheet and coloured with permanent markers. Total failure again. It rolled in on itself again. It was a very expensive project with only failed results. Disappointing.

Teaching tool
Purchased for a grade 12 workplace science course to encourage student participation. We made cells infected with malaria and then shrank them. Those who chose to participate loved this science craft. Could. Use use for science clubs or arts and crafts clubs or homeschool or teaching about polymers in grade 11 or 12 chemistry.

Turned out great! Would buy again
Got these to make pins just because. Took a bit of playing to get the size right but I also figured out that if you sand the other side as well then you can layer your colours better and Go into greater detail, and of course a clear coat of mod pudge is a must.

Exactly as expected.
Extremely rough! Worked great with pencil crayons and had no issues with cutting, cooking, or colour fading. Awesome. I'm so glad Amazon carries these!
